Bob's Transplant

Thank you for taking time to even read this.  Summer 2015 took an unexpected turn.  My husband was diagnosed with AML leukemia on June 4th.

He spent 6 weeks in the hospital from the date of diagnosis.  Then was able to be home for 3 weeks before going back in for more chemo.  He was fortunate that they found a willing, anonymous donor and the transplant was scheduled for October 6th.

On September 4th, his body shut down and he blacked out while in the shower.  He spent the next 19 days in the hospital.  This delayed his transplant for a minimum of 6 weeks.

We found out today that our insurance ends on December 7th.  His company has been fantastic at holding his position hoping he would be back, but can only hold it for 6 months, which means he loses insurance at that point also.

We have managed despite losing his income, but the thought of getting through this paying cobra is overwhelming and without insurance would be unmanagable.

We have a beautiful, strong daughter that is a senior this year and we are trying to minimalize the impact for her.

We have medical expense, travel expense for medical appointments, loss of half of our income, and now a looming COBRA monthly fee.  Anything will help.

If you can't donate financially, prayers are appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this tough journey. The outcome was not what we hoped for, but that doesn't mean we've lost hope. Bob left an impact on this world and it was a bright one. The donations will continue to be used for medical expenses as the bills continue to come in and then will be used for our daughter's expenses. God is good. All the time.

Bob has been back in the hospital since the end of January with profound graft vs. host disease. They keep saying this will be a long journey, but at least it's a journey not an end. Thank you again for your support.

We seem to be in a new phase of this journey. As much as it is wonderful to have Bob home and over a month since the bone marrow transplant, the struggle to find the right medications is a huge struggle.

The medications they try either cause other issues or he has a reaction to them such as severe nausea, We are grateful for so many options, but for the first time ever the cost of the co-pays is hitting hard. One med is $300 a month alone. Then with all the changes, it seems like we buy a med and then we don't need it the next week.

Thank you all for your help. We can't possibly tell you how much your kindness and generosity has helped.
