 WOODLYN, PA
Eleanor Gehret and her daughter Jennifer are homeless and need your help. Jennifer has multiple brain tumors and suffered a stroke in October.  As medical bills mounted they fell behind on their rent. Eleanor is a waitress and Jennifer isn't able to work due to her disability. They were kicked out of their apartment in Ridley Township, PA on Nov 30th and have been living outside in the cold weather with their dog and their cat. I drove past them on my way to work on Dec. 3 and asked them how I could help.  A Ridley Township police officer arrived shortly after and spoke with them and took down some information.  They’ve been trying to work with outreach programs but the wait is long and there is a funding crisis thanks to the state budget impasse. They need some help and I know the kindness and generosity of the Delaware County community and beyond can help them! The funds collected will go towards providing temporary shelter and some meals, paying the back rent to get them back into their apartment and it will help with Jennifer’s medical bills.    Any additional money will be used to pay off Jennifer's medical bills. I will manage the money and make payments directly to the apartment leasing company and Dr/Hospitals and also work to put them in touch with people and organizations who can help them long-term.  As we approach the holiday season and get wrapped up in buying presents, decorating and cooking please take a moment to reflect on how you and your family have been blessed and how you can be a blessing right now to someone in need.

Update #3. January 13, 2016
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and every one of you who donated to this fund. The donations ranged from $5 to thousands of dollars. They ranged from a donation from an anonymous business man in Delco to a single mom struggling financially who just wanted to help. The amounts given were across the board and the donors ranged greatly, yet there was one commonality: love and kindness. It was inspiring to see the monetary and material donations come in and to hear of prayers being said. It reminded me of WHY I love Ridley and Delco so much. We're truly a great community! At this point, with Eleanor and Jennifer's permission I am closing this page and transferring the funds to a checking account which I will manage on their behalf. In order to do so, Go Fund Me asks for a public update and detailed explanation of the use of the funds. The Gehrets are situated with their rent and housing for the time being. The funds transferred into the account will first be used to pay off existing medical bills and then medical bills as they come in and then other essentials such as food. Thanks to your generosity the Gehrets are back in their home and back on their feet and are very grateful. I hope one day they’ll be in a position to pay it forward and help someone in the same way you each helped them, whether that’s in the form of money, a prayer or just simply a kind word. <3

Update #2: A check for $6885.73 was written out directly to the apartment complex for the back rent owed plus rent paid up to Feb 2016. The remaining money will be used to pay Jennifer's medical bills. The organizers of this page will now put the money into a checking account and send payment directly to the Doctors and hospitals. We have been in touch with one of her Doctors. The Gehrets are also now working with an organization to utilize resources and programs to better manage Jennifer's medical bills.

Thanks to all of your generosity we raised enough to move Eleanor, Jennifer, their dog Max and kitty back into their apartment today! They have a warm place to sleep and food on their table. What an outpouring of love and kindness!!! Additional money raised will now help with Jennifer's medical bills and other bills they may have. I am trying to get to all of the messages, but will answer some questions here. I don't want to post their address of phone number publicly, but if you want to bring food or gift cards, please message me and we can arrange that. Thank you again to everyone who donated and continues to donate. Each of you have been a blessing to this mom and her daughter in their time of need.!
Update: Eleanor and Jenn are back home!
