Hey people of the internet.
It is pdxHomelessDev here. I thought I would not be asking for money from anyone, but as things are getting more in line. I find myself needing just a few extra things that would greatly increase my chances of getting a job and help me sustain that job. I am not proud of this and it is awkward for me. But I am trying to get the best chance at making everything work.
I am currently trying to make phone calls over this 2nd generation Android. I have already missed a couple of calls from hiring managers and I called them each back 3 times with voice mail and never heard back from them. This phone is very slow and barely works over wifi when it does work. I know I can get a cheap Android pre-paid phone for about $100 - $150 then I would need a plan which I can get for around $45.
I also need a new pair of glasses, which has been also tough as my eyes are constantly strained when being on the computer, which limits the time I can focus.
I am also in need of a duffel bag or small luggage item to keep my clothes in. Especially since I just received new and nice clothes from Work Source Oregon.
A portion of it will go to food. While I do have food stamps, the state gives me $120 a month. I am able too cook now due to the very kind support from Austen at Lambda School. But before that, being at the shelter meant I can only buy already prepared meals like sandwiches and sushi which increases the amount of money I have to spend on food from my EBT account.
And of course small miscellaneous items, such as coffee if a prospective company wants to meet for coffee for the interview process. Money to be able to do my laundry. Money to print out resumes, etc.
I will provide updates on the newly purchased items and of course if you have any questions please reach out to me.
