Holloway's Hope

The Holloway family was very excited to move into their 4- bedroom house they had just bought in Blaine. They had saved up for their first home and the closing on Dec 9th   went off without any issues. Four days after the closing the family walked into the house to start moving in and found it had flooded.

Unbeknownst to the family, the gas heating had been turned off on Dec 6th and when the gas was turned back on the day of the 13th it burst the frozen pipes.  Water damaged everything- wood flooring, tile, sheetrock, appliances, cupboards even the kitchen sink had to be removed. The family would have to stay in a hotel until the water was cleaned up and damaged items removed.  During this time, Janet was reassured that insurance, the gas company, or the prior owners insurance etc… would take responsibility and she would get her house back to move in condition.

This still has not happened. Although living there now, the family is still walking on plywood floors. There are no lower cupboards or even kitchen appliances except the refrigerator. The laundry room was damaged including the washer and dryer.  The family consists of Janet and Marquis Sr., 5 children:  a 6th grader at Anoka Middle School, a 3rd and 5th grader at Madison Elementary School, a 5 year old at Early Childhood, and a 2 year old. Janet’s grandmother also lives with the family.

The family has depleted their savings they were planning on using to buy new furniture and items for their house and now they are living mostly in two rooms of the house.  They have very little furniture or house items. This family is very proud and private and did not reach out to share their story. Janet was hopeful that her calls to the gas company, legal aid and the attorney general would help as well to make something happen but still no changes.  All parties are claiming it’s not their responsibility.

Their hope is depleting and this deserving family did everything right. Please help us support Holloway’s Hope to raise funds to repair the damage to the house and let them see they are not alone.  Gift cards, cash or checks can be made out to Madison’s Angel Fund at 650 Territorial Rd NE Blaine, MN 55434. Donations and gift cards can also be given to Anoka Middle School for the Arts attn. Lynn Schaefer at 1523 S 5th Ave. Anoka. MN 55303. A GOFUNDME account is also being set up to make it easier to donate and spread the word.
