Hollister Aquatic Center

Donation protected
Two years ago, the Water Quality Board closed the two pools at San Benito High School.  We were able to get the deep water pool opened with a bandaid, but the shallow pool was beyond economical repair.  Measure U was approved which will provide for a new 8 lane shallow pool and a competition pool to be built near the new Football field.  There has been no public accessible water for the last two years.
Hollister for Aquatics has been pushing for a new recreational feature to be part of this Aquatic Center that benefits the residents and will provide an economic draw to bring people in from the surrounding areas to play in the recreation portion.  The vision is for a lazy river, wave generator, water slide, beach entry, and shallow water feature with water features for the young, and a snack bar and meeting/party room.  This recreation area will be open from 5am until 10pm for aquatic programs all year long and employ up to 70 people in the summer peak hours.
The need is acknowledged by all of our politicians and we need your help in telling your city and county representatives to approve expending money to build the recreational aquatic center that will enhance the life of all of San Benito County and attract visitors from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties.
The cost of the recreational side is $8 million and we need to show the City and the County that this is money well spent and will provide jobs and training and most importantly recreation for the local residents.
Your donation will reduce the amount needed by the city and county and the operation of the aquatic center.
You may also donate to the community foundation and request the donation go towards the Aquatic Center.
Construction will take another year and three years since there has been any public water is already too long.  So please donate and help bring recreational water to our community with an Aquatic Center that we all can use and be proud of.
Thank you for giving for the betterment of our whole community.
