Ice Hockey in the Himalayas

Hello!
I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at UVM, a coach, former math teacher, and hockey player. Some years ago, I heard about SECMOL, a school in Ladakh, India, which is near the borders of Pakistan and China (Tibet).
The school itself provides many services to locals, including housing for students who attend college in the city nearby, camps for kids throughout the year, and a one-year program for students who failed their national exams the first time and need more preparation. It also has a focus on sustainability- environmentally, financially, and in regards to local direction and support. Students' overall experience at the school enables them to be positive members of their communities and helps them become eligible to pursue higher educuation, should they so choose, when they would not otherwise be able to. Check out more on their website: http://www.secmol.org
Hockey in particular has also been a positive outlet for youth in an area. It's been a great way for young women and men to build confidence and leadership skills. Many SECMOL graduates eventually take their skills to other rural villages and coach skaters there.
This winter, SECMOL is looking for a coaches so I will be visiting to coach students in their hockey program, set up a pre-season training program, and bring hockey gear. I will also be visiting Physical Therapy clinics in the area to learn from locals about techniques unique to that region.
Although hockey is very popular in the area, they have no way of manufacturing gear thus far, so gear is limited- especially as the sport gains popularity.
I'm hoping to bring as much gear as I can- I'm looking for donations of sticks and skates in particular, both left and right-sided sticks of all sizes for all ages. I will also be bringing several hand-held skate sharpeners. Whatever extra gear we have, we will send along to rural villages nearby that are getting girls' programs going.
If you have used or extra gear, please consider donating it. If you don't have gear and would still like to contribute, I will use the funds to pay for used gear/ extra luggage/ shipping of equipment.
I will update soon with gear drop-off locations, but for now you can contact me to arrange pick-up/drop-off.
I leave in mid-December.
Thank you for your help!
