HERE IS AN UPDATE:

Hey Guys,

I would like to take a moment and thank all the people that have donated to the Chris March GoFund Me account, especially his fans and friends around the world. In June of 2017, Chris nearly died. We are grateful he pulled thru from a very difficult, delicate and demoralizing hospitalization.
As we all know Chris is an incredible human being—funny, witty and a super talented designer. However, his road to recovery has not been an easy one, after being released from the hospital he was placed in a nursing facility. In this facility, he's had to deal with homophobia, shortage of rehab personnel and lack of funds.

I asked Chris if there was a message he wanted me to pass along to his Friends, Family, and Project Runway Fans, and this what he had to say:

“I have recently run into several setbacks in my recovery, the biggest one being that my medical insurance went up over 500% at the beginning of 2019. I am also in need of leg braces, specialized physical therapy, a hearing aid, and a new living arrangement. Where I am now is unbearable and makes me anxious and depressed every day. I have considered suicide many times. I have tried my best to make strides. There is a long road of physical therapy ahead of me. In December I was awarded disability, but California gives 95% of it to this facility, which leaves me with $52 per month. In the face of all my setbacks, I try to remain positive—the leg braces are an exciting new tool on my road to recovery. I am trying to get my tracheotomy removed, and I try my best to effect positive change in this facility for myself and all the residents here. I try to add humor, glamour, and a little glitter to my world.”

So once again I'm asking for help, we are hoping to raise financial support for his medical bills and expenses. So please give any amount - $1, $5, $10 or more.  A little from his friends will go a long way.

Dear Friends,

As you know I’ve been friends with Chris March for the past 15 years. We have worked together, played together, vacationed together. He’s been a big part of my life and I love him like a brother, ok and like a sister!

When he moved West, there was a big void in my life. So when I heard what had happened I needed to take action and help any way I could.  Since I could not be there physically, I’m doing what I can from the East coast. Hopefully, we will able to raise the funds necessary to pay for his ongoing medical care and assisted living facility.

Our beloved Teddy Bear from Project Runway, Chris March, has had a rough 9 months. Back in June of last year, he suffered a debilitating accident and had to be placed in a medically induced coma where he stayed for many weeks. Thanks to the miracle of modern science he has pulled through but is still in a very fragile state. His right arm has been paralyzed and at this moment, has limited use of his hands and legs. In addition, he's dealing with respiratory issues that demand constant care. With skyrocketing medical bills, his health insurance has maxed out and he's in desperate need of continuous physical therapy in order to get back on track.

Every day Chris keeps getting stronger, but he's got a long recovery road ahead. We are hoping to raise financial support for his medical bills and cover his expenses when he is released from the hospital. So please, give any amount - $ 1, $5, $10 or more. A little from his friends will go a long way.

Help us spread the word on Social Media by alerting as many friends as possible. Share his "gofundme" page on Facebook, Twitter and any other platform you participate in.

We want Chris March to continue making us giggle with his infectious laugh, incredible outfits, unexpected outrages and most of all his out - of - this - world wigs, all of which make us always feel fabulous!

Dear everyone, today is the one year anniversary of my accident, so I wanted to tell you what happened so you hear it from me...here goes:
I fell and hit my head in my apartment. It’s that simple.
I passed out and laid there for 4 days. I woke up and called 911 and somehow got to the hospital.
In the hospital all sorts of medical problems happened:
My blood sugar was over 500.
My organs started failing, my right lung collapsed, and they had to give me a tracheotomy and put me on a ventilator.
From there they put me in a medically induced coma.
My kidneys failed, my lung kept collapsing, my gall bladder was infected. I had a wound on my right leg.
My body went septic.
The coma lasted about 2 months.
I came close to death many times—they called my family and they were told if they wanted to say goodbye to come right away.
Somehow I miraculously woke up—I couldn’t talk and didn’t know where I was for a couple of months.
I ended up being paralyzed in both legs from the knees down. My right hand and arm are paralyzed.
I have been convalescing and doing physical therapy for many months.
I am currently in a medical facility in Northern California. They get me into a wheelchair so I can go outside sometimes.
This has been a long and extremely difficult journey, physically and emotionally. And I have a long way to go, just like Dorothy.
I could not have survived without my family and friends. I deeply appreciate everyone who has donated to the Go Fund Me page.
I have good days and bad days and the worst days you can imagine, but I still have my brain, and for that miracle I am forever grateful.
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and encouragement.
As always, your friend
Chris March
(I have also lost 160 lbs.)
