Hit and Run victim's medical bills

Donation protected
Last October, Myke was walking to work along a country road with no sidewalk. He was only a few feet from the driveway to our housing community when he was hit by a car from behind. The impact threw him into the bushes by the side of the road where he appears to have lost consciousness for a couple minutes.

He was hospitalized for the weekend, and released under strict orders of rest and recooperation.

Myke returned to work about two weeks later, against the wishes of his physician, because of the threat of huge medical bills that would not be covered by his employer provided insurance that hadn't kicked in by the day of the accident.

Because of this loophole in his coverage, no treatment or follow up appointments associated with this accident will be covered by his insurance.

The driver of the car has yet to be found. As of right now, he has several different medical bills that are threatening collections and garnishments, on top of the regular bills that fell behind due to the two week abscence from work and limited hours he could work for the first month he was back.

We are hoping to gather the funds as quickly as possible to allow Myke to make payments to keep these bills from going to garnishments, which will hamper his ability to pay his day to day expenses.

If you cannot donate at this time, please just share Myke's story. Hopefully someone knows who hit him or the driver will see this and come forward.

The accident happened on the morning of October 20th, 2016.  On Locust road, about 20 feet from the driveway entrance to the Clearwater Mobile Home Community, a little before the intersection of Locust and Roosevelt.  According to the police, they have several pieces of the vehicle that hit Myke in evidence. It is a steel gray-blue SUV that had significant damage done to the front passenger side.  There were pieces of headlight, some of the bumper, and other bits including the side mirror.

We're grateful every day that he wasn't killed in this accident, but with these medical bills piling up and threatening his ability to take care of himself and his family, Myke is experiencing bouts of depression and hopelessness that are awful to see on someone who has always been so cheerful and friendly.

Please help whatever way you can.  Thank you.
