Welcome, & thanks for reading. Our Hilltop family is deeply saddened to inform you that Jackie passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Jackie Bakker was the owner, & founder of Hilltop Hopes Horse Rescue. The stable is located in Hawley, PA just a short distance from Lake Wallenpaupack. The ranch was established in 2004, & in 2010 turned into the areas largest and possibly only horse rescue. We save horses from auctions to prevent them from going to slaughter, nurse them back to health, with hopes of rehoming them. As many of you know, things don't always go as planned. A lot of the horses at the rescue have become life long residents because of age & nutrition concerns. Our "staff" consists of volunteers. To volunteer, you must be 18 years or older & horse knowledge is prefered.

We currently have 6 horses at the barn in our rescue program. We are working to re-home all of the remaining horses. Its with a heavy heart I regret to inform you all of the rescues closing. At this time we are focusing on providing the most exceptional care for our existing horses, just as Jackie did for years. Thank you in advance for reading, sharing, & understanding.
