Hiking to help, route for a cause

Donation protected
Hi!

Thanks for taking the time to visit this page.

I am going to do a snowdon horseshoe hike DRESSED AS ELSA ‍♀️Crib Goch , Crib Y Ddsygl, Snowdon, Y Lliwedd and Gallt Y Wenallt on the 8th June in aid of raising donations for an amazing and inspiring friend Rob Metcalfe. I’ve not been hiking long, wing it and just push myself and as your not so ‘usual’ hiker thought I would up it to dressing as full blown Disney’s Elsa, wand and crown for this cause. He was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma cancer last October but got told he was terminal in March and could have maybe just even 12 months to live depending on his body’s reaction to treatment.

Rob is married, 30 years old and a father to a 2 year old little boy. His outlook is completely inspiring considering all he has been through in a year, his conversations, comments, daily posts, I just really want to help. I’m raising money as he has a bucket list to make lasting memories for his family especially his for his son to look back on and remember and see his dads personal attributes. Rob worked for a climbing company and loves nature and the outdoors. He’s a doting family man especially father and see him savour simple moments like having breakfast or taking your child out on their bike and appreciating every tiny detail. Even in his situation he manages to push himself everyday and work towards raising awareness of this type of cancer. We are aware of cancer but how aware? I had never heard of Sarcoma, he explained neither had he before. He had a cough back last January and was prescribed antibiotics, by May he was worse and went back to the gp and referred for a scan told he had a lung collapse and unidentified object above the lung. In June he had the surgery to fix the lung collapse and told the object is likely to be a cyst. He recovered from the but August still bad chest pain and went back to the gp and had another scan to which it shown the ‘object’ had doubled in size and they thought it to be a benign tumour. September Rob had a ct guided biopsy and the specimen was being sent off and wasn’t until October he was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a very rare cancer of the soft tissue. He wants to raise awareness ‘it’s not a cyst!’ He’s undergone many therapies and treatments and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He’s sharing his journey and supporting others where he can and is such an inspiring strong family man it is crushing sometimes to read and see. His positivity and drive is amazing though and one of the things on his bucket list is to see the northern lights, unfortunately when you have chemotherapy you’re not allowed to fly so he has plans and positive mindset to drive   He also would like to renew his wedding vows for his son to be part of and family camping over the uk.

I have set a target of £500 if this went over it would be amazing and help so much! Will upload photos and everything once hike is done and also share how donations have massively helped Rob with his bucket list. It’s unfortunate that money and time are culprits to make this all happen and what majority of us as humans are most flippant with.

We all have aspirations and dreams and say ‘one day’ but we have time which we do waste and take for granted. All donations will be going to Rob Metcalfe, anything is something and if anything I hope you have gained something even if it’s just by reading this
