Capstone Film: High Fly

Hey! My name is Callen Lowery and I am in my graduating year at California State University, Monterey Bay. I am a cinematic art and technology student who is currently starting the production process for my senior thesis film High Fly.
High Fly is a short film about a young, baseball-crazed boy who learns that both his father and grandfather hit their first home run during their 11-year-old season. Without realization, he approaches the last game he will ever play before his 12th birthday. During one of his last at bats, battling through a tough game, he sends a towering fly ball into the sky. While rounding first base, he looks up in disbelief.
High Fly is a significant short story to share because it highlights the importance of how close relationships influence motivation. In particular, this film justifies the importance of family and how family can affect the desires of younger family members. With this project, the High Fly cast and crew seeks to create a visually appealing short narrative that allows the audience to experience the story of a young athlete’s attempt to reach his goal in their own way. Most sports films, especially those that deal with baseball frequently end with success and happiness. This film creates the opportunity for viewers to choose how they think the story should end.
I am planning to shoot my film in Riverside, CA this upcoming Febuary (2/17/17-2/20/17) and am looking to have this project funded by then as well. The funds raised by this campaign would be used to cover equipment rental costs, transportation, craft services, props, permits, and other various production expenses.
Baseball has always been a huge part of my life and it would mean the world to me to be able to create a piece that reflects how much of an impact it has left on me. All help is greatly appreciated by my crew and myself.
