Hidden Figures 2018

$24,968 of $30,000 goal

Mikayla Sharrieff, Bria Snell, and India Skinner, 3 young African American scientists from the Washington D.C. area entered in a science competition with NASA to #bethespark.

According to NASA:

Students will investigate NASA technology and Spinoff technology. To display their research and ideas, students will use a combination of text, images and videos to create a Glogster Multimedia Poster.

Voting was open to the public so that in the case of a tie, the voting would be the tie breaker. Last week, the voting was shared on various social media networks. Many votes came in for Mikayla, Bria, and India. So much so that these young ladies were in the lead at least 50% ahead of their closest competitors!

However, as is expected, our beautiful young ladies have been blocked from achieving their goals. It has been alleged that 4chan hacked the NASA website and skewed the votes. NASA has since suspended voting and will "only be using the rubrics" to make a final decision.

The ladies of Black Women Who Plan and Create (BWWPC) requested to put together a GoFundMe to present these three young ladies the opportunity to reach and achieve their destinies. Join us as we help these three young girls plan and execute the skills and support they need to reach for the stars and TRULY #bethespark.

BWWPC and I, Mary Burgess, would like to personally thank each and every one of you for helping us reach our goal. Not only are we excited that we have reached the goal set, we are also extremely proud of the young ladies for winning their event. These three young ladies will be heading to NASA (and most definitely college)! I will be withdrawing the funds and be distributed to the mothers of the young ladies, once funds come available from GfM via PayPal. Please continue to cheer these ladies on as they acheive their goals in life!

The 3 young ladies continue to prove how focused and diligent they are in their education. They would like this Gofund Me to focus on a STEM Scholarship for all 3 students as they are in the 11h grade. Not only they have aspirations in STEM, but they were inducted in the National Honors Society for Spanish as well as Math.

Please continue to share and show these ladies your support for them in STEM.
