AP Workbooks for At-Risk Students

Donation protected
I am an English teacher in an inner-city high school. Over 90 percent of my students receive free or reduced lunch. In my Advanced Placement classes, I have the best and brightest of our kids, the ones who know that education is the way to break the cycle of poverty and despair they face. As the state of Oklahoma deals with a massive budget shortfall that is depleting education resources, I'm looking for help to buy a class set of Barron's AP English Language and Composition workbooks to help prepare my students for the AP exam. Passing this test will give them college credit while they are still in high school.

The completion of this campaign will allow me to purchase 40 workbooks; my students will use notebook paper to answer the questions, so the books themselves can be reused among two sections of AP Language in the 2016-17 school year, and for years after.

My AP students enroll in Advanced Placement because they want the challenge of college-level coursework. Having these books will help me reward them as they deserve by sending them to take the exam more prepared than I've been able to make them in the past.

It's hard to express how grateful I will be unless you can see the grins and excitement of a kid who has just learned he or she passes this difficult exam. Trust me, it's what teachers live for, and I will be eternally grateful for any help toward making that happen.
