Henry Reed's Medical Fund

$43,800 of $45,000 goal

Friends I am writing you on behalf of the sweet Reed family. Most of you know they have had a tumultuous last year with the birth of Super Miracle Baby John.  They need us now even more, their sweet 4 year old Henry was just diagnosed with Leukemia. While we are praying and believe in God's power for complete healing they need our physical, emotional and financial support. Treatment Details for Henry are still not known. This fund will raise money to offset the cost of Henry's treatment, and give Shelby the ability to focus on Henry's care.

I believe we are placed in each others lives to bless each other and I request you give any amount to support Chuck, Shelby, Ava (8), Henry (4) and John ( 9 months) through this time.

Hi all! Henry needs Prayer!! We are in Day 45/56 of Henry's long chemo Delayed Intensification. We have been doing really great and had been handling all of these meds so well. As we finished his last oral med for this round on Wednesday night called 6TG- we call it our Robot medicine! We started to feel a little more tired than usual and our skin color was pretty pale. I called for us to be seen and as usual our counts had just bottomed out. We got almost 12 ounces of blood and a platelet transfusion this past Wednesday!!! Our doc basically said we are on fever watch and hopefully counts will still recover and we would be out of this long monster chemo. Then last night Henry was just not himself and after trying to go to the bathroom he became pretty sick to his stomach and I felt like again, he was becoming anemic and was heading down a worrisome path. I called the oncologist this morning at CHLA and we decided to bring him up for a check... again his counts are very low and here we are getting admitted to CHLA needing more blood and platelets and we have a fever... the one thing we wanted to avoid. But when their body just gets worn out it's hard for them to fight much.
So, here we are through the weekend. Good thing there is a Harry Potter Marathon this weekend. We appreciate so much your continued prayers and support.
xo Shelby and Chuck

I feel this past week has been a 'mission control' countdown that I cannot stop. I know there is this next phase on the horizon that, well, is just going to suck. While I still feel eternally optimistic about Henry's treatment and his response to it all, this is really an unknown territory for me/us. This 8 week phase of chemo called Delayed Intensification- it sounds intimidating already, is upon us. I have known about this phase since he was in Induction and have heard this phase is a beast. It leaves me feeling overwhelmed and angry all over again for what this has to do to my family, most of all Henry.
We report June 14th for our day 1 Lumbar Puncture, steroids, infusions of chemo drugs over those 4 days and then back at it again the following week and it continues on...
We have lots of help during these next 8 weeks and just ask that you remember us in prayer or thoughts. We cannot accept visitors during these weeks but we can always FaceTime or have our friendly sidewalk visits. It might be hard for some of our little friends to see as Henry will feel those effects of steroids and will for sure loose all his hair, maybe eyebrows and lashes.
I think what is the worst part is he has been doing so great and it's just completely unfair to have to put someone through this, as a parent you feel this level of care and responsibility that you just can't escape. I know we cause none of this, there is no one to blame, Henry will walk through this to the end and ring that final chemo bell and live a normal life.
My next update is for John, most of you that know, was born with kidney's that had some issues. He has reflux and a non functioning left kidney, it's always been monitored and maintained and thankfully he has never had an infection.
Upon further discussions with our urologist we have decided to remove his left kidney and non functioning ureter and fix his right kidney- which has amazing function to set him up for the best kidney health and function. John has his own story and we want him to have the best set up for a long healthy life... so peace out left kidney...we don't need you anymore. That surgery will be done at some point in the late summer. There is no immediate rush.
Chuck and I thank everyone for the constant prayers, well wishes and support. We will continue to keep you all updated as we progress through this phase of chemo.
Much love to you all,
Los Reeds 5

Good evening beautiful friends-- Henry needs prayer, he was admitted to CHLA with a high fever and heart rate. Please pray for the fever to come down and his heart rate to normalize. While fever spikes can be typical for kids on Chemo it's still scary and uncomfortable for Sweet Henry. Please lift him up tonight in prayer!!! Let's move some mountains!!!
