Henry Reed's Medical Fund
I believe we are placed in each others lives to bless each other and I request you give any amount to support Chuck, Shelby, Ava (8), Henry (4) and John ( 9 months) through this time.
So, here we are through the weekend. Good thing there is a Harry Potter Marathon this weekend. We appreciate so much your continued prayers and support.
xo Shelby and Chuck
We report June 14th for our day 1 Lumbar Puncture, steroids, infusions of chemo drugs over those 4 days and then back at it again the following week and it continues on...
We have lots of help during these next 8 weeks and just ask that you remember us in prayer or thoughts. We cannot accept visitors during these weeks but we can always FaceTime or have our friendly sidewalk visits. It might be hard for some of our little friends to see as Henry will feel those effects of steroids and will for sure loose all his hair, maybe eyebrows and lashes.
I think what is the worst part is he has been doing so great and it's just completely unfair to have to put someone through this, as a parent you feel this level of care and responsibility that you just can't escape. I know we cause none of this, there is no one to blame, Henry will walk through this to the end and ring that final chemo bell and live a normal life.
My next update is for John, most of you that know, was born with kidney's that had some issues. He has reflux and a non functioning left kidney, it's always been monitored and maintained and thankfully he has never had an infection.
Upon further discussions with our urologist we have decided to remove his left kidney and non functioning ureter and fix his right kidney- which has amazing function to set him up for the best kidney health and function. John has his own story and we want him to have the best set up for a long healthy life... so peace out left kidney...we don't need you anymore. That surgery will be done at some point in the late summer. There is no immediate rush.
Chuck and I thank everyone for the constant prayers, well wishes and support. We will continue to keep you all updated as we progress through this phase of chemo.
Much love to you all,
Los Reeds 5
Please include me in the meal chain. I would love to help contribute meals as needed.
Henry was in Eliana's class last year and we are praying for Henry!!! I hope that this next phase will go quickly and that the adverse effects will be minimal.
Oh my dear Shelby, no parents should have to go through the medical trials you are facing, and my heart aches for Henry, you and your family. I know that you are one strong Mama Bear, and you will carry your family through this journey with grace, love, and the almighty power of God. Please know that you are all in our prayers. Sending prayers, big hugs and love from Colorado. Becky Reaves & Jessi Schafer
Have you seen the movie "Lion"? "Never Give Up".......never! Our children are our future and Henry is needed and will be part of it! God bless him and his family during this challenging time.
