Jacob C. Perring was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday, October 30, 2016 while walking in the village of Balllston Spa, NY where he grew up. Police have found the vehicle and an investigation is ongoing at the time this is being written. The driver is being accused of leaving the scene.
Jake, at 32 years old, was well-known in Saratoga County where he worked as a chef, cook and bouncer over the years. He was a writer with a quick wit and a lover of nature, animals, his family and his friends. Jake was an avid reader and as his mother has said, "Books are some of his greatest friends and he keeps himself surrounded by them." He was known for always standing up for what he believed in and would give the shirt off of his back to help others. He was loved by many people and will be sorely missed.
I am asking for donations to help pay for funeral services. Jake's mother raised Jake and his two brothers while working multiple jobs for many years; she now lives out of state and is currently in the hospital. The loss of a child is so devastating and I am reaching out in hopes that Lori, Jake's mom, can lay her beloved son to rest without this financial burden weighing on her. Lori and I have been friends since we met at work in 1998. She is truly one of the most generous, caring, thoughtful and selfless people I have ever known. We would be so grateful for your support during this difficult time. Prayers for Jake, his loved ones and for justice are encouraged as well.
