My name is Amanda. I am a wife, a mother of 5 fabulous children, a singer, an actress, photographer and teacher.
Almost 10 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease, also called Thyroiditis. This is an autoimmune disease that attacks mainly the thyroid, but affects the entire endocrine, adrenal and immune systems.
For years I have bounced from doctor to doctor seeking help. I have tried several methods of healing including many natural, homeopathic and traditional medicine. But each new medicine I try only helps for a short time and then my symptoms (including hair loss, insomnia, chronic fatigue, weight gain and/or loss, emotional instability, anxiety, depression, headaches, etc...) return or get worse and new symptoms arise.
This last year I have worked very hard to change my diet and seek out the "root cause" of what is truly going on in my body. The doctor I was seeing helped me with a few of the missing pieces and got me on the right path but my symptoms are still severe and progressive. This last summer I started to loose my voice. In my reading and from talking with others who have this disease, I learned that this is part of Hashimotos and some loose their voices completely.
I am a singer, a teacher and a mother, I need my voice. This has been a very scary and heart breaking experience for me. I started seeking help and have found a clinic near me that specializes in and treats Hashimoto's patients with great sucess. I want to work with them, to be able to heal and get back to feeling like I can get out of bed in the morning. However, their fees are more than we can afford. My husband was laid of from his job in August 2014 and has not yet secured another steady job. He is doing school and working 2 part time jobs, but it is not even covering our basic bills right now. The clinic suggested I put this on a credit card, but I may not qualify and even if I do, we would not be able to pay it off before it starts multiplying with enourmous amounts of interest causing more financial stress to our already struggling family.
I need help to raise the money as soon as possible so that I can start the healing process before it is too late to save my voice.
This is very difficult for me to share this and especially to ask for help. I feel like there are so many other people out there with bigger problems and more deserving than me. Most people do not even know that I am sick. It isn't outwardly apparent and in spite of the way I feel, I still have to get up every day and go to work caring for my family. There are many days I don't think I can, but with God's help I somehow do.
But I am in need of my own little miracle right now. I thank you for any small part you could play in helping make it happen. I am so grateful for all who support me in so many ways. Thank you for your assistance in helping me in my healing process and helping me reclaim my health and my voice.
