HELP A FRIEND AND HIS FAMILY.

Donation protected
A long time friend of mine and too many others is in need of our help. Sean Parmley has NASH disease "Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis" and is in need of a liver transplant. He is currently on the liver transplant list. The waiting time for a new liver may be un certain and stressful. The sickest patients receive priority for a transplant, prioritizing is based on the severity of the liver disease measured by a MELD score which stands for Model for End stage Liver Disease. This is a extremely difficult time for Sean and his Family as he must get sicker in order to move up the waiting list, and even then there is no guarantee that a liver will be found.
The alternative is to find a living donor. The living donation operation is a major surgery, where 65% of the liver is removed and requires 5-10 hospitalization and a 3-4 month recovery period. A lot to ask of anyone but well worth it in the end. Not only is there a physical aspect but a financial one as well. A 3-4 month period of not going to work can be a deterrent for some one not coming forward and being tested. Therefore we are raising money in order for a person who has/is considering being a donor and has been reluctant to do so due to the financial issues that one may face.
The money we raise will go to the person who donates his/her liver to help with any financial issues that may arise after the surgery as needed, the rest will go to the Transplant Unit at LHSC . In the event that a living donor isn’t found or Sean receives a liver from the transplant list, the money will go to Sean and his family to help with the long recovery process that Sean faces after his successful surgery.
If you or anyone you know is interested in being tested please look at the following link which explains the entire process.
Multi Organ Transplant Service Handbook for LHSC.

As well you if you have any further questions or are willing to be tested please contact.
