Help Sandra Recover

Donation protected
Family, friends and a community have been left shocked and horrified at the recent news of a much loved woman.

Sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, Sandra Snijders was brutally attacked in her own home in Umgeni Park, Durban, South Africa. Sandra was found by her son Bram late Tuesday afternoon, after the family was alerted when she didn't show for work. Her phone had been stolen and she was left for dead on the floor. Bram called the emergency services, and she was admitted to hospital immediately, where they feared she had skull fractures because of the severity of her injuries. Thankfully, that was not the case.

She is still mentally, emotionally and physically very weak, in a great deal of pain and under constant hourly observation by a neurosurgeon.

The violation of her body and her home was for a cheap cell phone and her purse, which are so easily replaceable, but it is going to take lots of therapy to help Sandra try and get over this life changing and traumatic ordeal. She will need ongoing medical treatment and therapy.

The aim of this fundraiser is to try and help Sandra and her family with the current daily medical expenses of keeping her in hospital until she is strong enough to be discharged and therapy costs they will be facing post discharge, as well as basic items like replacing her cell phone and everyday eessentials.

Any donation, of any amount, in any currency equivalent is welcome and it will be going safely and securely directly to Sandra. Any funds donated will all be converted back to South African rands.

Thank you in advance for any support.

And here is the incident report from the security company who were alerted:

INCIDENT: ATTEMPTED MURDER
DATE: 2017/01/24
SUBURB: UMGENI PARK

A sixty eight year old female has been left fighting for her life following a house robbery in Sylvania Place in the suburb of Umgeni Park, north of Durban.

Marshall Security and emergency services were called to the scene after the home owners's son found his mother lying on the floor of her home, unresponsive and in a critical condition.

Reports from the scene indicate that an unknown number of suspects forced entry into the home during the last 24 hours, violently assaulting the home owner and strangling her, before ransacking the house and fleeing in an unknown direction.

Advanced life support paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the victim before she was rushed by Crisis Medical ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.

The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
