San Juan Community Library, the only lending library in the San Juan area, was greatly affected by hurricane Maria.

We are located in a park and lots of trees fell all over our premises. Our wooden roofs were damaged and water flooded our main building. Our sales book section, one of our main sources of revenue, was also damaged. The Library was about to celebrate its 30th Anniversary, however our main fundraising event of the year had to be canceled due to the aftermath.

San Juan Community Library is currently without power but, thanks to our volunteers, we are working manually under a limited schedule. The library is run by volunteers and encourages community, corporate and individual participation for its upkeep and day-to-day operations.

Please help us in our recovery efforts! Your contribution* to this campaign will help our beloved Library recover from this unfortunate outcome. Any amount will help, no matter how small you think your contribution may be. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island. Its natural beauty and its people are resilient and strong. With your cooperation, we will rise again! Thank you!

¡Gracias!

Dear all:

It is with great love and appreciation that we wish to announce that we have almost reached the goal amount set for our relief efforts for the library via GoFundMe.

We received separate offline donations of $5,000, $1,000, $500, $300, $100 and $25 from donors who wish to remain anonymous, totaling $6,925. Adding the online donations of $2,630 that you have given us through GoFundMe, we have raised a total of $9,555 for our beloved library! We are forever grateful to all whom have supported us during this difficult time.

We are so close to our goal! Please, share this campaign link with your friends! We will continue our fundraising efforts until this Friday, December 15, 2017. Remember, your contribution is tax deductible.

Thank you all for making this possible! From our family to yours, Happy Holidays and thank you!

San Juan Community Library wishes to thank two amazing donors from New Orleans! Randy Bossier and Robbie Hoard visited San Juan Community Library this past Monday, November 13 to present $2,500 in donations that they collected -in just two weeks- from family, friends and clients. Robbie and Randy remember too well the devastation after Hurricane Katrina. While on the island, Robbie and Randy have listened to other people's Hurricane Maria stories, and, while here in Puerto Rico, they have given donations to these people, as well! Also, Robbie's mom, Maria, was from our island! Bravo! Please receive our blessings and thanks! We are forever grateful!
Along Randy Bossier and Robbie Hoard.

Your donations are lifting our hearts! Thank you! Even with a limited schedule, families and individuals are coming daily to the library to check-in and check-out titles, and to buy books. Our art classes are back and running and the parents thank us for providing normalcy and safety to their children. Please keep sharing our campaign!
