Help Maddy's family in PR

As many of you may know, Puerto Rico is going through critical conditions after hurricane Maria made it's land fall on Sept. 20th. It has been a week now and most of the island is still without power, cell service, and in some areas little to no water. Many families, including mine are living off of whatever cash they had access to before the hurricane, which for most is not much. Flights are very limited and those that are able to leave are left with uncertainty as to when they will go back home and will it ever get better. They are packing up their lives into one suitcase, picking and choosing carefully what clothing, possessions, and items they need the most and trying to be at ease with leaving the rest behind.
My mom and step dad are currently faced with this situation, to leave everything behind except for whatever fits in their suitcase, and start completely over in a safe home, or to ride it out, help as much as possible and hope for the best circumstance. I am grateful that my sibilings were able to purchase flights for them as a back up plan but they depart 2 weeks from now, which still leaves finances as a major problem.
As I received a phone call from my mom on Wednesday, September 27th 2017, my eyes really opened up to how critical the situation is for many families in PR, not just mine. Hearing her voice crackle as she held tears back made me realize that not only do my siblings and I need to do whatever is possible to help out financially but that I also need to ask for your help in the most humble way I possibly can. We are working on fundraiser’s to donate goods to the island, but aside from that I have created this account to raise money for my mom and step dad in hopes that it helps out in some kind of way whether they chose to stay, or move and start over from scratch. They have no idea I am doing this, and I would rather keep it that way until further notice. Any donations are graciously accepted with as much gratitude as I could possibly give to each and every one of you, and every penny counts.
