Support to Mexico and Puerto Rico

As we know, Mexico and Puerto Rico have been hit with terrible natural disasters this past week! Also, you might know that I like to run recreationally. On October 1st, in my hometown of Corning New York the Wineglass Marathon will take place and although they closed registrations approximately three months ago they just announced today that they are opening a few spots for last minute participants. 

I haven't been training to run a full marathon all this year and probably the longest distance I have ran in 2017 is a 10k! However I have decided to sign up and go the full distance trying to raise funds which will be donated in its entirety to help rebuild our countries! 50% of what is raised will be donated to the American Red Cross to help Puerto Rico and the other 50% will be donated to The Carlos Slim Foundation to help Mexico. The latter will match each and every donation by a multiple of five so for every dollar we donate they will donate an additional $5 to help!! This is an amazing opportunity the help make our donations worth 6 times their value!

I am sure I will struggle to finish the marathon but I am hopefull and confident that together we can raise a lot of money to help our brothers and sisters that need our help!

For those of you that would like to cheer me up, the marathon will take place on October 1st; the finish line will be on the intercection of Centerway Square and Market St. in downtown Corning NY.
