Help Kea Transform Lives!

So, this is hard. For weeks, I struggled with the idea of making the ask you see here . I felt so weird about it! Those of you who know me, know I do NOT like asking for help. And especially for something that feels like it might appear frivolous; it made me very uncomfortable. However, this effort is something that I've been thinking about for a few years but kept pushing it away because it felt overwhelming and I felt scared. But, as with anything that's meant to be, the calling kept getting louder and the push to act kept getting stronger. I'm finally making the leap, but I need support to embark on this journey. So, here we go...

What's my story?
I've been a marketing executive for nearly 18 years, leading marketing initiatives for global companies like Unilever, Intel and Sony Pictures.  The projects I worked on were glamorous and fun, but something was missing. The work did not leave me feeling fulfilled.

In search of a more rewarding career,  I transitioned into the nonprofit sector to work with at-risk youth. This experience has been life-changing. I have been inspired by the strength and resilience of our young people as they've worked to overcome issues of abuse, homelessness, and street violence. Still, there's a lingering feeling that I could be giving back even more.

As I began to dedicate time toward figuring out what was next, I thought about a concept that a friend introduced me to about 5 years ago -- becoming a life coach.

A life coach? I had no idea that was even a thing! It felt so New-Agey; like only hippies did it. But, I indulged her and started researching this career path. Coaching certainly seemed interesting, but it just felt overwhelming to me and I wasn't ready to take it on. Fast forward 5 years and here I am again. This time, I'm ready.

Ready for what, Kea?
I am finally ready to become a certified coach! To do this, I have enrolled in the Coaching for Transformation program.  In this intensive 9-month Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) by the International Coach Federation , I will learn a wide range of skills that will enable me to have a profound impact on people's lives.

In fact, check out The New York Times article on coaching.

What exactly does a coach do?
Coaches help clients articulate their vision and values, deepen their self-awareness, and expand their sense of possibility. Clients identify and build on their strengths, set goals they are passionate about, create personal action plans, and achieve greater fulfillment and success.

Why do I want to coach?
I know so many people who recognize they're not where they need to be, but they aren't sure where to go next. Or they're just scared to explore what's next. Using the skills learned in this program, I will help people who are paralyzed with indecision and fear find their way.

Why am I asking for help?
The cost of this program is pretty steep -- $7,495.  This amount covers tuition, mentoring, books, assessments, participation in a learning community, and additional resources. Thankfully, I've received a scholarship and have been able to self-fund a portion of this training, but now I humbly come before my community to assist me in raising the remaining $3,000.

If you believe in my ability to make a difference in someone's life through coaching, please consider making a contribution today. No amount is too small and I will be eternally grateful for your support!

One more thing! As part of my training, I am required to provide coaching to others. If you are able to contribute $50, I will offer you 30 minutes of coaching. If you invest in me, you'll also be investing in yourself. It's a win-win!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your consideration. Being vulnerable in this way makes me very self-conscious. Swallowing my pride to ask for support is scary, but if it helps me fulfill my goal of helping others live their best life, then I'll give it a whirl! If you have any questions at all, I'd be happy to answer them.

Again, a million thanks to you for being amazing!

With love and gratitude,
Kea
