Help Isabee's help Beekeepers help Bees

Bees and pollinators are in peril, stressed from a variety of challenges. The complete and profound impact of their existence in our lives is difficult for us to fully discern.  We do know however, that honeybees are critical to our nation's food supply and our nutrition as primary pollinators for 90+ different crops.  Moreover, their existence and well-being impacts our physical health through the honey, beeswax, pollen, propolis and bee venom they provide us.

Isabees is the only beekeeping supply resource in St. Louis, serving the bi-state beekeeping community since 2009 with retail equipment, classes, consultation and apiary management services.  Isabees provides detailed information about the use of equipment and accessories; provides year-round beekeeping education through classes and expert guidance; offers consultation and trouble shooting, most of which provided to beekeepers at any level, in-store and free-of-charge.  We want beekeepers to be successful and have happy, healthy bees.

Isabees, llc. promotes a comprehensive approach to understanding the challenges facing honeybees and other insect pollinators.  Along with BeeSpeak and the Saint Louis Beekeepers club (founded by Jane Sueme and Scott Klein), Isabee’s remains the direct connection between these important organisms and the stewards that protect them.  Just as bees are critical to a healthy community, so too is Isabee’s.

Our goal with this fund drive is for Isabee's to continue providing product and services to a growing beekeeping community, to offer information for educators and pollinator stewards, expand education space with more classes, have more access to equipment use and rental, as well as on-site consulting and out-reach to the St. Louis area community at large.

Isabee’s Needs Your Help

It’s time to fledge the nest, as it were, from the St. Louis County Economic Development Business Incubator  (STL VentureWorks) that has served Isabee's for 4+ years.  At the same time, Isabee's needs to evolve to offer the growing beekeeping and pollinator steward community more services.  We need to raise $34,000 in the 4th Quarter of 2018 to:

 •  Move to a larger, more centrally located building, easy to access with convenient parking

 •   Make capital improvements to provide additional and advanced equipment options for 2019 and beyond

 •   Offer more inexpensive beginner classes and hands-on instruction with honeybee hives on-site

 •  Offer advanced training by guest educators and experts throughout the year

 •   Provided expanded on-site rental space, accessibility and options

 •   Increase public education materials, space and outreach

Beekeeping is a life-long learning experience.  The St. Louis and bi-state beekeeping community deserves to have Isabee’s as a resource and these are the things we need to stay relevant. With your help Isabee's will be able to  better support our local beekeepers and the pollinator protection community at large. Help us keep it going.

Thank you to our many loyal and supportive bee-friends who so generously donated to our campaign so far. With the funds we have raised to-date we have been able to commit to new space in Fenton, Missouri. Construction rarely goes as planned, so it looks like we will be moved-in and open for business at the new location just after the holidays.
The next phase in our expansion includes plans for dedicated classroom and meeting space, as well as live teaching hives (in the spring) so we can provide beginning and continuing education throughout the year.
Wherever you are on your beekeeping journey, we would appreciate your support. We believe the St. Louis beekeeping community deserves to have a full-service resource with local, knowledgeable, experienced beekeepers, open and available every week of the year to help you succeed with your bee passion. We appreciate your time and consideration. Please feel free to share this with your friends and fellow beekeepers.

We are coming up to a deadline and we need your help. So far, we have raised $7,500 of the $34,000 we are seeking to reach our goal. Within the next week, we need to make a financial commitment (sign a lease) to a new location in Fenton, Missouri, near Highway 141 and Gravois Road. We can make the commitment to this space if we can raise another $2,500 through this campaign. Please help us with a donation of $15 or $20 so that we may take this important step forward.

Isabee's is an “old-fashioned” brick-and-mortar store offering equipment and accessory selection that you can see, touch and compare. Beekeepers purchase bee stock and enjoy local pick up of starter colonies in the spring and queens throughout the season; where customers still receive expert personalized customer service, can rent equipment, get free educational information and sign up for scheduled classes, all available 5 days a week, all year long.

In addition to being more centrally located to the majority of our customers, with easy access from Highways 270, 44 and 141; this new space will allow us to provide more services to the beekeeping and friends-of-bees community, including expandable classroom and meeting space, as well as better working space for beekeepers to do on-site equipment assembly and honey extracting.

Isabee's is the place for knowledge with local, hands-on access for thousands of beekeepers each year, and we view that as key to our mission. We are so grateful for the support and all the positive feedback we’ve received so far. And, thank you for your donation!

We are grateful for all of the generous donations we’ve received since starting this campaign 9 days ago! So many generous donations and well wishes for our future, both at GoFundMe and at the store. We are negotiating with a property owner in Fenton who is excited at the possibility of having St. Louis’ only beekeeping supply in his building. As he is working out the details of drywall, electricity, plumbing, etc. we have about 2 weeks to be in a financial position to commit to that space with a 1-year lease and we are ever hopeful to reach or come close to our goal in time.

We liken our campaign to the honeybee hive, where each individual worker bee contributes a small amount to the honey production (1/12 teaspoon in her lifetime). This small contribution multiplied by the total number of foraging workers in the hive (like our customers) is what makes for healthy communities and amazing crops of honey. We see over 1,700 people have looked at this campaign, thank you! Please make a small donation of $10 or $20 and help us reach this goal.
