Please help Amy continue her fight against domestic abuse and continued staged surgical recovery. Amy is a loving mother, raising 2 boys, a teacher, breast cancer survivor, and sadly, a victim of domestic abuse from her husband, all while fighting devastating eye disabilities with mounting medical and legal expenses.
Amy has suffered tremendously from the abuse, which has taken an enormous physical, emotional and financial toll. Amy’s husband kicked her in the head twice the day before Mother’s Day and filed for divorce immediately. Amy was left without support just 2 weeks before her upcoming surgery and left scrambling to find childcare and an escort to her out of state surgery with an eyelid reconstructive specialist. Amy’s husband has blocked essentially all financial resources to care for her children, seek medical care and pay legal fees to fight and heal from the domestic violence.
Amy is courageously fighting the abuse. She has obtained an Injunction of Protection and retained legal counsel, which compounds the financial hardship. She is continuing to raise her children, and healing from surgical recovery on her own. Thanks to everyone’s support Amy has made great progress. However, she still has a long journey to a full recovery from the domestic abuse, overwhelming eye complications and exorbitant legal fees costs.
Amy is enduring staged reconstructive eye surgeries, and hoping to recover a normal quality of life. Amy is slowly recovering and still suffers from disabling eye complications due to a failed eye surgery 6 years ago. Amy struggles with 24-hour pain and suffering, causing post-traumatic stress due to her eye problems. Sadly, the domestic abuse and lack of support, from Amy’s husband, has made her disability even more debilitating. Amy has tried multiple previous corrective surgeries, and all have failed. Unfortunately, these surgeries are not covered by her medical insurance.
Amy is also a cancer survivor. In 2005 Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. Fortunately, the cancer has remained in remission. However, Amy has undergone 3 reconstructive surgeries, one which involved skin grafting from Amy's back and another which involved bovine tissue; all in hopes of leading a healthy and happy normal life. Just recently, Amy learned she must face yet another reconstructive surgery - and without the support or any help from her husband who has blocked all financial resources to seek medical care.
Amy is a strong, brave, and loving woman; a teacher and a mother who puts her children’s needs before her own, as she fights with incapacitating eye problems on a daily basis. At the same time, Amy is escaping the domestic abuse and facing loss of income and finding a new home. Amy will have a lengthy medical recovery, potentially up to a year, and will be unable to teach with no income.
The funds raised will provide Amy the financial resources to pay her medical and legal fees, enabling her to fight and heal from the domestic abuse, so she can provide for her beautiful children and supporting her lengthy medical recovery, and finding a new home. Amy will have no teaching income during recovery and after escaping the abusive marriage. The funds will provide Amy and her children the opportunity to get the care they deserve and help the family rebuild after this tragedy of abuse and medical hardship.
Our family appreciates everyone who has reached out to help. Our priority is Amy's medical and domestic abuse recovery, to provide the children a safe and healthy life.
Please help make sure Amy and her children will always be cared for and loved. Thank you for your help.
