Helping Tony through Syringomyelia

In July of last year Tony starting experiencing dizziness, fainting, and other symptoms at work. Ultimately having to be taken to the hospital and subjected to a myriad of tests before doctors discovered he had a rare disorder called Syringomyelia.
This disorder causes what’s called a syrinx to grow within the spinal cord and can cause any number of symptoms. Tony’s syrinx spans almost the entire length of his neck (C2-T2) and he is currently undergoing tests to check for more. Doctors have also discovered he suffers from Syringobulbia, 5 herniated discs, degenerative discs, bone spurs, and scoliosis.
A few of the symptoms he experiences day-to-day include numbness covering the right side of his body, excruciating pain throughout his entire body, pins and needles sensations in his hands and feet, dizziness, memory loss, processing issues, an almost complete loss of strength leaving him unable to even pick up his son, amongst other things. All of this makes it impossible for him to continue work as a dedicated welder and machinist without posing a safety risk for himself or others.
Having been deemed unable to work by doctors at 29 years old he is fighting for disability. But in the mean time he is facing struggles getting to appointments, bills piling up, and trouble feeding his family. He has exhausted his savings, sold extra vehicles and all he could to keep up so far. While his partner works, their family is struggling to keep afloat on just the one income. The money raised here would go to help with things such as gas to get to appointments, payments and insurance on his vehicle so he has a way to doctors offices, and helping with rent and utilities so he and his family don’t lose their home.
In NY, where he lives, disability is a long and arduous process sometimes taking more than a year to be approved. Having just filed recently after months of trying to find a diagnosis, he has a long road ahead of him and I am setting this gofundme up in his name as an effort to help out a good friend, hard worker, and loving father.
