Helping Our Brother In Blue
Robert was transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital where he was advised he had to have surgery to repair the extensive damage to the tendons in his hand.
Robert has since had the surgery and is now on his long road to recovery, rehabilitation and physical therapy.
Robert has served the citizens of Baytown and the State of Texas, honorably for nine years. However, Robert serves an even greater role as a husband and father to a beautiful family.
Many have asked how they can help so this account has been set up for those that feel moved to help our brother.
Robert and his family greatly appreciate your love and prayers in this time.
Today was my last day of in office, supervised Physical Therapy. After 9 months of weekly physical therapy sessions & 3 hand surgeries later, it's a bitter-sweet moment since my therapists are so great. I still have to continue daily home physical therapy regimens. I've made great progress from 42 lbs of grip strength in my left hand to 102-112 lbs. I still can't fully bend or straighten my left ring finger & deal with pain, swelling, stiffness, soreness in my hand; but I'm satisfied with my progress overall. I'm set to return to light duty next month, but my return to full duty is unknown at this time pending a medical assessment & full recovery. Per my surgeon, full recovery could take up to a minimum of 1-2 years from the date of my last surgery in October 2017 so I'm taking it 1 day at a time. Thank u all for the prayers & support throughout my journey.
Date of surgery is pending at this time as worker's comp will have to approve it. I believe it'll be approved within a week or two.
Continue to keep me and my family in your prayers as this is a difficult time for us.
"As of 5/1/17 at 1600 hours, the LONG pins in my amputated finger were successfully removed & plastic surgeon Dr. Carlos Murillo was pleased with my healing process. I was advised to practice making a fist, grabbing items, moving my fingers, stretching out my hand, & popping my knuckles. Lately the soreness & nerve pain in my hand have amplified, but I was advised it was a normal part of the healing process. The next step is 6 weeks of physical therapy for a minimum of 3 times per week including regular home rehabilitation. It's been a long journey thus far, but I'm getting closer to being fully healthy. Please keep me in your thoughts & prayers as I prepare for rehabilitation."
My wife & I just want to take the time to express how truly thankful & grateful we are for everyone that called, texted, visited, donated to my GoFundMe account, & most of all prayed for us during this trying time. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for everything. God bless you all! -The Ramlal Family
