Helping Chael with Therapy

On September 12, 2009 our dreams of having a child came through with the birth of our son Chael Hugh Lawrence. After over 24 hours of labour the doctors at the University Hospital of the West Indies decided to do an emergency c-section when the baby showed signs of distress.

“The first time I laid eyes on my son he was blue.” Lack of proper oxygen flow; he had passed stool in the womb, which entered his lungs. Our journey started with the term, Merconium Aspiration.

This bitter-sweet experience graudually became sweet as time  went by, until  later, we noticed he had not reached a few developmental mile-stones for his age. Turns out that the lack of oxygen flow during child birth caused damage to, among other things, the section of his brain that deals with motory development. The next phase of our journey started with the term Cerebral Palsy.

We have an opportunity to express our love and appreciation for God's gift in Chael by giving him one month of intensive physical therapy at Therapies 4 Kids in Coral Springs, Florida. Help us to make this a reality by contributing to the cost (USD10,000) of this programme. We have already taken care of airline tickets for our family of four to the United States and accomodation.
