Rent, Food and Bill Relief for Kri and Her Kitties

Hi everyone. With your support, I was able to move away from my transphobic family and stay afloat during some tumultuous economic situations. Now I need your urgent help with helping save my cat’s life and deal with a financial emergency. My cat Hiccup just turned 2 years old. When I moved to this apartment, there was a flea problem from a previous tenant, but it was manageable. However, it has gotten much worse this past month and it has sadly affected Hiccup’s health. I first noticed she was acting strange two nights ago. She seemed lethargic and disoriented. She was still eating and drinking, but not with her usual enthusiasm. I took her to the emergency vet last night and at first they didn’t see anything wrong, but after some blood work, they found she was severely anemic. They recommended a blood transfusion and hospitalization, but it cost $1,200 and I was declined when I applied to their payment plan. I had no choice but to take her home with me and hope for the best. I was given flea medicine to kill the fleas on her (and some extras for Yuni, my other cat) and iron supplement to give her and told to see a regular vet next week. My goal with your support is to get her that blood transfusion if possible and to get her the care and medicine she needs to get better and to protect Yuni from having the same issues. My cats are everything to me and I can’t bear to lose her, especially so young. The timing on all this could not be worse. The emergency vet hospital visit cost me $250 and my bank account had already been in the negative due to other bills. I’m also currently on leave from work and my paid leave is based on my reduced average hours this year. I took leave after being diagnosed with, I kid you not, anemia. Along with my other health issues (migraines, anxiety, depression, chronic joint pain), I felt that I would be at higher risk if I contracted COVID-19 and needed to focus on my health. Cases are rising and not everyone I was encountering at work was taking precautions. I also got a call last week that a test I had taken called a Fecal Occult Blood Test came back positive for blood and I need to have a colonoscopy soon. That chilled me to the bone and it’s been weighing heavily on me ever since. I’m waiting to get that scheduled and with only a few days left in my leave, I’m currently in the process of applying for extended Short Term Disability leave that will give me more time to deal with all this. I will see my doctor on 10/22 to hopefully get her and my company’s approval. However, if approved, my pay would decrease by 25%. While I do have insurance, I’m not sure that it will cover everything with regards to the procedure and other medical issues I may face. Rent is also due in two weeks and I currently do not have any savings set aside for that. So once I take care of the urgent needs of Hiccup, anything left over from donations will go towards my health care and staying on top of rent and bills. My goal is currently $5,000 and to break it down a little: $2000 - Blood Transfusion and Veterinary/ Medicine Costs for Hiccup $1,000 - Colonoscopy Costs and other Emergency Health Care $1,000 - Rent and Utilities $1,000 - Overdraft Fees I may adjust the goal if the situation gets any more complicated (which has been the story of 2020 so far). Any help is greatly appreciated to save my baby Hiccup’s life and help me navigate this uncertain time. Thank you so much, take care and stay safe.
