Help Heal Hector Fund

In March 2015, in the middle of tour with his band Tennis System, Hector Gomez developed what we believed to be neurological symptoms — burning, tingling, and numbing pains in all of his limbs, hands and feet causing him to be extremely weakened. This came two weeks after a painful molar extraction –giving us the fearful impression that something had gone seriously wrong. Upon returning home and visiting a clinic, a doctor dismissed his claims and said that nothing was wrong, but the symptoms worsened.

After more attempts for a diagnosis from clinics within his reach, Hector decided to admit himself to the ER after experiencing additional head pain and neck stiffness on top of his already existing ailments. The hospital insisted they perform a spinal tap and proceeded with an epidural blood patch two days later. Following these procedures, there was a pain in his lumbar spine not common in general post-procedure symptoms. Upon returning to the hospital in a great deal of pain and a new-found dysfunction, they explained there was nothing they could do to help and were unable to provide medication or guidance to alleviate his pain.


Having visited the ER on several different occasions within the last six months, it has been concluded that Hector will need specialized study and supervision, most likely in the field of neurology. It is imperative that he discover what is causing these problems and will most-likely have to undergo neurosurgery, due to the strong belief that his nerves may have been injured, having not seen much improvement this far along.

Additional dysfunction has occured, worsening his condition causing Hector to experience chronic fatigue, indigestion, severe reflux, sensitivity to several foods, gastrointestinal issues and further dysfunction below the site of injury. This has affected many of his most basic functions, including the inability to walk or stand for long periods of time, making everyday a challenge.

Unfortunately, the costs of these doctors are astronomical and since Hector has been unable to work or afford any specialized study, we are setting up this campaign out of desperation for a proper diagnosis, medical bills and in aid of his injuries. This is going to be a long process where we hope Hector can be studied by some of the most prominent doctors available and receive excellent treatment (surgery, regenerative medicine, physical therapy) in order for this not to be a life-long struggle.

Hector is one of the most talented, empathetic and wonderful people in our lives. If you could please help us raise money in aid of his injuries, a proper diagnosis and medical bills, any contribution will help tremendously. It pains us to see him like this, and we want to do all we can to get Hector back on his feet. We hope to give him his health, vitality, strength and a return to musicianship.
