Iylah's veterinary bill

Donation protected
UPDATE 07/03/2019

Iylah has since been to the vets and has had three CT scans and an ultrasound to clearly diagnose her problem. It cost us £1049.84. (adding photo below for proof) And now she is due for her operation next Tuesday, which has been estimated at £1500.

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to donate, it really means so much to me that you're willing to help us out. So thank you so so much, I cannot thank you enough. But things just keep getting tougher and I'm not sure what else to do.

Even if every animal lover who stumbles across this page donated £1, that'd add up and it'd help us out so much. So if anyone who sees this could do us a huge favour and help spread the word, I'd be eternally grateful.

Thank you so much.

Our beautiful baby Iylah unfortunately has what we believe to be an ectopic ureter. This is a congenial condition which causes incontinence, and was noticeable from the day we brought her home at 9 weeks old. This causes her way too much hassle and discomfort that a poor pupper should have to endure, so we're desperate to get things sorted for her as soon as we can, but finances are tight. During this difficult time, we're reaching out for any possible support for our little girl. Thank you so much in advance for reading.

I say 'believe' because she hasn't officially been diagnosed yet as we're waiting until she's a bit older -- as suggested by our vet -- before she has a CT scan to clearly show where the problem lies. However we're already concerned about the cost of said scan, and that's just the diagnosis. As I'm sure all of you pet-lovers know, vet bills don't come cheap. After that she'll need surgery, which we're also worried won't completely fix the problem (as apparently there's only a 50-70% chance of successful improvement depending on further treatment), so that'll double the bill. At this point, we are uncertain exactly how much this is going to cost as we wait for referrals, hearing back from our vet, waiting for her to come of age etc., so we're left to dread. But after plenty of research we're fairly certain it's going to be an awful lot, and can increase depending on the severity of her condition. Our dogs are our lives and it pains us to think she'd have to suffer longer if we can't afford to get her fixed right away. We'll put everything we possibly can into her vet bills, but as other financially pressing matters have all of a sudden hit us at a similar time, this is definitely going to be a struggle. If a miracle happens and we have extra donations or the bill is surprisingly low, we'd happily refund what we can or put forward the remaining funds to other causes to help other pets!

We really wouldn't be doing this if we weren't desperate, but this has come around at a pretty difficult time, particularly thanks to our current housing situation ready to dramatically change at any moment which we were already not completely prepared and comfortable to pay for, and I'm terrified about being unable to afford Iylah's surgery on top of all that. Of course it's not life-threatening, but it's definitely not something we want her to live with either, and she's already suffered enough. We'd like to get this corrected as quickly as possible if we can!

For a little background, Iylah is a Siberian Husky pupper, currently at 22 weeks old. We're based in Devon, UK, and she lives with her older brother, Demon, of 4 years. When we brought her home, she was a poor nervous wreck, and is still skittish of strangers and new dogs, but we're continuously working with her and she is growing up to be an amazingly intelligent and loving dog that we're so proud of! She has such a great home and we and Demon idolize her, and we cannot wait to bring her on all the adventures of life when she gets a bit bigger that our older boy is used to! It just makes me so upset that she has this condition hanging over her that she doesn't know a life without it -- her constant self-grooming and napping in her own urine, having to put up with us wiping her down every couple of hours and bathing every week to try and prevent any scolding or staining and keeping her as comfortable as possible. It clearly irritates her but she's a little fighter, and doesn't stop her kicking up a fuss and constantly challenging us, like all cheeky Huskies do! She's just such great fun and we love her dearly.

Now I'll just share some gorgeous and funny photos of our adorable little girl and her big bro!

Thank you so much. x
