Hello friends and family! This is Amanda, I am one of Brandy's close friend. I have set up this page to help Brandy with her up coming brain surgery.
Most know her as Mrs. Harrell. She is a Medical Assisting Instructor . I am sure you have had her as an instructor. She has touched you and wanted the best for you. Not only has she cared for us as her own children, she takes care of her own six kids. Which range from the oldest at 21 years old, to an infant at 13 months old.
For the last two years, Brandy has been dealing with medical complications. If you all know Brandy as well as I do, I had to force her to go to the doctor that I go too. Taking her myself and sitting in the doctors office while she got a check up, the Doctor diagnosed her with Fibromyalgia. Everything started to look up. She was back to the Brandy that we all love, joking with us and dancing around. This last year, her symptoms were getting worse and worse. Brandy started having seizures, memory loss, migraines, and tremors. Our doctor ordered a MRI, where then she was sent to a neurologist then a neurosurgeon. Which they diagnosed it with being a Pineal Gland Tumor. The local surgeon said "We don't do that here." Brandy's grandmother died of Brain tumors at 29. For her this is a very important surgery to have.

Brandy found a doctor in LA , Dr Shahinian, that will do the surgery with only going in with a dime size incision, where he will remove the tumor. Surgery is scheduled for September 15, 2015. He is a rock star surgeon. The only one in America who does not remove the entire back of the skull. He has been on the Ellen, the Doctors, and the Today Show explaining his unique surgical approach. The smaller entry point will allow Brandy the ability to resume work on a restricted basis two weeks after surgery.
One way or another Brandy has gone the extra mile for everyone of us, with studying for a test, taking time out and explaining an assignment we did not understand, counseled us on life, just listened to us when our own lives seemed at their worse. This is our time to help her in her time of need. Every dollar counts. Little donations will add up to help this journey out. She has to pay $15,000.00 out of pocket for medical, travel expense, and plane ticket for her and her husband Matt to be by her side. Just a dollar donation will help. Let's come together for help. If you know her well, you know asking for help is the hardest thing ever.
