Hello! My name's Rachel and the handsome man you can see me with is my wonderful fiancé Peter. We originally met online 5 years ago and now we're getting married!
We actually met in person for the first time in 2012, and we've had a good few visits to each other in between. Earlier this year, Peter took me on a 3 mile coastal walk by my home town, where we ended up on a beach, and he proposed to me after we had a picnic. I cried like I was 5 years old again.
So we decided to say 'screw you!' to the ocean that's constantly been between us and get married!
...I mean, we wish it were that simple. We had no idea that our application by the USCIS would get accepted so quickly, or about all of the hefty fees that they're charging us for our applications, medical examinations, wedding license and the bills I have leftover from living here in the UK. The last thing I want to do is burden him with the debt I have leftover and be able to actually have some kind of small ceremony within that short 90 day limit when I enter the United States.
It feels really weird, going to a website like this to ask people to fund this journey and the bits in between, just so I can get married to the man I'm so desperately in love with. I always wanted to try to do this independently, but I just can't make it work on the income that I have. It barely gets the bills by and I've already had to sell so much to make all of £500 by myself. That doesn't even cover the flight to the US by itself. I have to face the fact that I need help.
I don't know what I can do for any of you that donate in return. I want to do something for any generous people out there, though. After all, you would be making our dream come true! But if you can spare anything, even just £1 towards this goal, it would mean so, SO much - not only to me, but to us. ♥
