Help Chase Fight Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
Chase is an intelligent and outgoing 11-year-old with a profound love for his parents and two older brothers. He is an avid University of Michigan and Coach Harbaugh fan who enjoys going fast on his four-wheeler. In May 2015, he was diagnosed with Hepatitis Associated Aplastic Anemia (HAAA). A hepatitis virus attacked Chase’s immune system causing an onset of aplastic anemia. Aplastic anemia causes a deficiency in all blood types which leads to failure of bone marrow development and only 500-1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Chase is currently surviving with frequent blood and platelet transfusions and goes weekly for blood level monitoring. The cure for Chase’s condition is a bone marrow transplant. Chase is currently in his fourth hospital admission since May 13th. Chase has been hospitalized for a Broviac line, bone marrow biopsies, and currently chemotherapy. The staff members at University of Michgan CS Mott Children’s Hospital are working to stabilize Chase so he can begin the transplant process. The hospital has already begun searching the bone marrow registry to find Chase a suitable donor.
Chase’s family will face a large quantity of unexpected costs related to his treatment such as procedures not covered by insurance, home care, tutors, traveling expenses, parking, and his mother and father missing days of work. Any support as well as prayers and words of encouragement are truly appreciated during Chase’s road to recovery. Thank you!
