Help Brown Dog Farm

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

We really appreciate you checking out our GoFundMe page.

Brown Dog Farm has had a rough spring filled with snow, extremely cold temperatures, and last week, a massive, destructive hail storm. The combination of these events has left us struggling, to say the least. And there is currently more snow in the forecast.

As a farmer, we put a lot of our finances into the farm at the beginning of the season and then do not see much of that return for a few months. And as this is our 5th season farming in Golden, CO, we are no stranger to the sporadic weather patterns that a spring in Colorado can bring our way. But this last hail storm was terribly rough on our crops and our infrastructure.

With that said, over the last couple of months, we have lost countless seedlings and will have to re-plant a significant portion of our crops. This last hail storm detroyed our agricultural fabric with golf ball sized hail that plowed through the fabric, shredded it, and created 2 inch divets whereever they landed. Also, this crazy hail managed to detroy the plastic on our greenhouse and any buckets or tubs that were exposed to the elements, to screw up our irrigation lines and beat up our irrigation pump, plus harming any plants that happened to be in the path of the storm.

Moving forward, we are hoping to raise enough funds to recover what we have lost, help us catch our breaths and to make it through the next couple of months where we will be bringing significantly less vegetables to our markets. We need to replace all the materials, plants, and seeds that we have lost in order to continue farming this season. For example, in the dry Colorado climate, the agricultural fabric helps us to create a humid, safe environment for our seeds to germinate and grow for harvest. Additionally, we pump water out of the creek and are unable to do that while ou rpump is broken.

We are so thankful for the help and support that we have received from everyone these last 4 years. We love our farm and the community that it has created. We would greatly appreciate any help that you can provide to Brown Dog Farm for us to get back on our feet but also completely understand if you are unable to contribute at this time and are so thankful for your thoughts. We want everyone to feel good about their support and please know that we will use any donations to further our ability to provide delicious, fresh food for our community. Every little bit helps.

Thank you so much,

Tim, Bessie, and Waco (the brown dog)
