Help Bob O'Connor Medical Expenses

I am here to raise money for my very dear friend Bob O'Connor so that he can purchase an all terrain Wheelchair.. Bob was in a tragic car accident two decades ago that left him paralyzed from the waist down.Years later due to complications from his paralysis Dr's had to remove his legs. He has carried on with his life since then maintaining his positive outlook and never losing his spirit. He has two wonderful sons and has always been there for them despite his hardship.

Bob is an avid music listener and is responsible for turning myself and all who have met him onto many great bands through the years. It's because of Bobby that I know and love music by everyone form David Bowie to The Cure ...The Cult ...Iggy Pop..etc etc...

Bobby was the coolest kid that any of us in our small town of East Aurora, New York knew and he was a fast friend to all those he met. I moved away from that small town years ago and only recently got back in touch with Bobby. It was then that I learned of his current condition and immediatly wanted to do what I could to help my old friend.

If Bobs road wasn't hard enough already he had another set back recently that has really made me want to make this happen. After leaving a gathering with friends a few months ago Bobby was traveling home in his wheelchair through those small town streets when an unidentified individual approached Bobby from behind. In Bobby's own words "He kicked me in the head with a roundhouse kick and knocked me out of my wheelchair and into the street...He then flipped me over onto my back and he began to jump up and down on top of my chest and ribs..He just looked at me with hate in his eyes and continued jumping as high as he could and coming down on my chest...He said nothing. I could not breath or fight back in any way and was sure I would die right there..it was then that by a stroke of luck a driver appeared blowing their horn and scaring him off. They called an ambulance and police and stayed with me until help arrived. I received three shattered ribs which were near my heart and a punctured lung.... I have no doubt I would not be here today had that good samaritan not showed up when they did."

Bobby has relayed to me a general depression that has taken hold since the attack. The police have no suspects and sadly knowing the fact that it is a small town police force I do have doubts they will have any luck in solving the case. It makes me very sad to hear about what happened and makes me want to do all I can to help Bobby be more mobile and not let the fear rule his life. Getting this wheelchair will let Bobby be able to get out and travel..be able to go places he can't go now and will do great things for his outlook. Bob loves the outdoors and this all terrain chair will let Bob get out and enjoy activities like fishing which is one of his passions.

Any amount you can contribute will be GREATLY appreciated and every single penny goes directly to the purchase of the new All Terrain Wheelchair for Bobby. Bob is a very proud man and would never ask for this himself but there is truly not a better person I know or a more deserving person of your help. Will post more pictures and info soon...Please help me make this happen for Bob.  I have made Bob the sole withdrwer of funds so your donations will go directly to him.

Update 9/27/16...We have been able to get Bob his new all terrain wheelchair thanks to very generous friends and family who have contributed to Bob's cause...we are keeping the campaign going to help Bob cover his medical expenses which are ongoing and never ending. Bob is scheduled for another surgery next month for suspected Kidney Stones and is currently not doing well at all. Bob will need all the help we can give him and I will keep this camapign open for his ongoing support and have raised our goal... As mentioned every penny donated less the aprox 8% that GOFundMe.com charges goes directly to Bob's bank account...and every penny donated is greatly needed and greatly appreciated...Thanks for all your support and please consider sharing campaign on your own facebook page...it really helps get the word out...Thanks So Much - Patrick O'Brien
