Help Yanni The Therapy Cat Move to a Safer Home
Donation protected
YANNI THE THERAPY CAT and I first began helping others in 2014 as a Registered Therapy Cat Team visiting people in nursing homes. Since then, we've also cared for over 35 rescued foster cats and kittens--all of whom found forever homes. After four years spent paying it forward, helping others less fortunate than myself as a social worker, I now find myself reluctantly asking for help moving into a new apartment where Yanni can be safe....

Why do we need to move ? There are major health and safety violations in the house where we are renting a studio apartment-- a gas leak in the fireplace, a collapsed bathroom pipe, outdated electrical wiring , a broken window and rats. This is not a safe environment for anyone--cats or people!

This is the front hallway leading to the bathroom after a pipe in the bathroom collapsed. Would you like to live here?

Apparent sewage in the bathtub after pipe collapsed. No shower for ten days.

Holes in the wall stuffed with plastic by landlord. There are rat droppings in here. Would you feel your cat was safe here?

What the holes in the drywall look like with the plastic removed-- big enough for a cat to climb in and disappear..

Before moving in, I asked the landlord to put in a door here so Yanni would be safe in our studio apartment upstairs. This is what was installed-- a plastic curtain and a baby gate that cats can get their heads stuck in! Would you feel safe carrying groceries up these stairs and through this narrow gate? I've fallen down the stairs three times so far...

Three months ago, I began a new job working with Developmentally Disabled Adults. Originally, I planned to slowly save up the money needed to move into a better apartment. But recently, my housemate left a downstairs door open, Yanni got out of the house and could not be found for 4 days. When Yanni came home. he was weak and had trouble walking because his paws were swollen and sore.

After Yanni got lost when my housemate left the patio door open, I could take no more. I decided to move out as soon as possible to keep Yanni safe. I do not have enough money saved up to pay moving costs yet, so I'm forced to ask for help. I have no family members who can help me.

Help is needed as soon as possible so we can move into a more affordable, professionally managed apartment community where Yanni and I can live alone without roommates. A total of approximately $1920 is needed for move in costs and security deposit. Any amount is acceptable, $10, $20 or $200, whatever works for you. Prayers and sharing this page are also appreciated! Yanni and I have spent the last 4 years helping others, now it is our turn ask for help.

What goes around, comes around--isn't that what life is all about? Your kindness will help Yanni and I continue to pay it forward... Once we move into our own apartment, we can return to fostering rescued kittens on a small scale-one at a time!
Peace and blessings to you all,
Anne and Yanni The Therapy Cat
