In February 2018 Misha Grigoriev suffered a brain aneurysm from which the doctor in the emergency room said he would die. After being transferred to another hospital where he had surgery, he is very much alive today. Misha has spent the last five months in rehab where he has made remarkable progress. His work is not done, however. On August 3 Misha is coming home as his insurance will no longer cover his rehab stay and, in addition to continued physical and occupational therapy sessions, he will need a home care attendant. Misha is clearly a fighter, defying the odds to still be here with us. Please help Misha continue the fight as we raise funds for his expenses related to continued therapy, home care services, and medical supplies.

I am Trevor Dawes, Misha's husband, and am the organizer of "Team Misha".  We have been married for almost 4 years, and have been in each other's lives for over 23 years. A friend of ours, Adi, recently captured our story in a blog post here ( https://www.adiredzic.com/journal/2018/8/2/trevor-misha-a-story-of-love-fate-and-resilience.).

The funds we raise here will be used for Misha's ongoing care expenses, including:
- Home health care aide
- Medical supplies (diapers, underpads, disposable washcloths, and the like)
- Medical equipment (e.g. shower bench, bedside commode, sit-to-stand lift)
- Adjustments to the home (e.g. additional railing, grab bars in the shower, stair lift)

We thank you, in advance, for your support.

Last week many of us were fortunate enough to be able to spend Thanksgiving with our family and friends. I certainly am one of those among the fortunate. That fact notwithstanding, Misha and I still need your help. It is wonderful that Misha remains at home and that we were able to spend Thanksgiving together. However, he is home because the insurance company - Aetna - refuses to provide coverage for his necessary additional stay at a rehabilitation facility. Aetna also does not provide coverage for the home care attendant who is helping Misha with his activities of daily living, the cost of which exceeds TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS monthly. Yes, the cost for a home care attendant exceeds $12,000 MONTHLY! It is because of your generosity that we have been able to make these payments so far and we are so thankful for your support. Today, on this Giving Tuesday, we ask for your continued help - your financial help - to pay for the ongoing care that Misha needs and that our insurance company, Aetna, does not provide. We truly appreciate your support. Please give using the donate button above, or contact me for a direct mailing address. Thank you!

Misha and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this week (on October 17). Unlike other anniversaries before, we didn't go out to dinner, nor did we travel to some (I would say exotic, but we never really traveled to exotic places) far away place. Because Misha is still not able to travel, we had a very low-key dinner at home. I cooked (instead of asking his caretaker to cook as she normally does), and we had a nice evening with some sparkling cider (he is very well aware that he was not drinking wine). Spending this time together was so precious, though as it reminded me of that dreadful day in February when I was told that he would die, yet here we are, 8 months later, celebrating another anniversary.

I know we are here today, together, not only because of the excellent care Misha received from the entire teams at both the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital but also because of all the prayers, well wishes, shout-outs, visits, love and, of course, financial support from all our friends and family - close and extended. We are so happy to have you all in our lives, and we thank you for your ongoing support.

One of our graduate students at the University of Delaware volunteered to make this video for Misha and me. Thanks, Ethan! I really love our UD family.

Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to make some accommodations that make it easier for Misha to get in and out of the house. A stair lift and ramp were installed. Thank you so much for your contributions. They are definitely making a difference for Misha!
