My name is Jennifer and I'm on a mission to move out of of state to Maine. I can't stand living where I do now as though the rent is free, the true cost of living here is my mental state. I work for a convenient store and my boss is also my landlord. He underpays me as well as refuses to pay my family for the hard work they've done for the motel they manage which is my current living space.
He also overworks me and I gain no benefits whatsoever. Why haven't I quit sooner? Because for the above reason. He is my landlord and if I quit, I'll have to leave.
I was almost kicked out before so I know this for a fact. We've tried reporting him but these things take time which is something I cannot afford to waste. I also can't move out in my state as the cost of living is in the thousands. Even for a studio apartment. Way to go garden state! It doesn't help either that our area is steadily getting worse with the druggies and alcoholics. Even in our motel no less!
The money will be combined with my current savings to cover the cost of the plane ticket, rent, food, furniture, supplies for my two cats as they both help reduce my anxiety and depression.
I'd love to be able to move by this summer or at least...this year to say the least. A girl can only take so much stress from a toxic environment which is worsening by the weeks and months. This would be my very first time moving out on my own so I want to make sure it's as stress free and prepared as possible.
I'm saving up on my own too and will soon be opening commissions to help add to the funding as I have a difficult time accepting help for nothing. It's...a bad habit. Though I would be SUPER greatful for any and all donations and information to prepare for such an IMMENSE and stressful step in my life.
If you all help to make this possible...I swear...I'll be crying tears of pure joy. All I ever wanted was to have a nice peaceful life without too much stress aside from the very basic common ones. I know even that is a pipe dream...but leaving this area to a better, affordable, and safer area... That'd be so much better than this. For both me...and my battle with depression and anxiety.
