More details (written by José Manuel Molina Sánchez):

Since Monday the 19th of November, my mother Zulay Janett Molina Sánchez, 54 years old, is Hospitalized in "Hospital Central de San Cristóbal", due a Community-acquired pneumonia complicated with pleural effusion. Due to lack of economic means to bear the expenses, we are raising funds to cover my mother's medical treatment, to guarantee her recovery.

My mother, since she was 15 years old, suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis. She takes a Immunosuppressant treatment, which conditioned this Pneumonia. Days later after she was hospitalized, after several unsuccessful antibiotic treatments, the Pneumonia further complicated with pleural effusion. The medics prescribed her Meropenem 1gr every 8hrs for 10 days, and Vancomycin 1gr  every 12 hrs for 10 days, as well as further complimentary studies of her condition.

A secretion culture is carried out, which reports growth of Acinetobacter sp. A very pathogenic bacterium that also shows resistance to several drugs. For this reason, the treatment with Meropenem was changed to Imipenem. These antibiotics are very expensive, but initially we thought we were able to handle the cost personally.

But since the recovery has been very slow, and the need of further medical studies, we will not be able to bear the cost of the medical bills for much longer.

At this moment, my mother is in stable conditions, with a good mood and state of mind. But due to the resistance of the bacterium, and slow recovery, we are afraid this may change.

Zulay is a very joyful and kind woman, she is a fighter, with a very kind heart. Those who know her, love her for her uncomplicated nature and unending happiness. Today she needs everyone's help to complete her medical treatment. From my heart, I thank beforehand every who contributes. I hope the best for all of you.
