Invigorated by the success of two cross-country tours and love from their hometown fanbase, Chicago Psychedelic-Funk quartet Zoofunkyou is setting out to release their first full length album.
Rooted in the blues, Zoo was founded by guitarist/vocalist Derek Dare and his talented friends in 2012. Today, surrounded by a different set of musicians and under a different - albeit funkier - band name, Derek is still the heart and soul of this project.
Bassist Matt Coglianese brings an exuberant and powerful force to the music. Jake Hennessy’s drumming, with its funky touch and dynamic approach, lays a rich textured underbelly for Derek and guitarist Bryan Scheinkopf to soar over. Scheinkopf is the most recent addition to the band, joining in late 2016, adding a set of new flavors to the zest of Zoofunkyou’s delicious psychedelic stew.
With a trove of original songs under their belts, Zoofunkyou is ready to embark on the process of planning, recording, editing, mixing, producing, and releasing an album. These songs are road tested and ready to be captured. Like bottled lightning, the energy of a Zoofunkyou show is something that will not be simple to catch.
In order to meet this endeavor with professionalism and create a product that will stand the test of time, the band has begun the process of assembling a team of talented collaborators. Producer Packy Lundholm and engineer Noam Wallenberg will be adding their expertise, and the staff at both RaxTrax and SoundVault studios will be helping to ensure that Zoofunkyou’s first album is a mind-blowing success.
