Like most of the young people at 26, my friend Yordan wants to build a career and make his dreams come true. Unfortunately, one of the most treacherous diseases - cancer has settled in his body and turned his life upside down.
In the beginning, the diagnose was a Hodgkin's lymphoma, stage three, and the Turkish clinic „Anadolu Johns Hopkins Medicine” gave us some hope for а healing.
The shock was huge to us, but with the help of relatives and unknown generous people, we succeed collecting the amount of 50 000 BGN (25 500 EUR), so Yordan passed a treatment course of 12 chemotherapies within 6 months at the Turkish clinic.
The results were impressive. We all (Me, other friends of Yordan, his family) thought Dancho's treatment was successful. We were in euphoria, but for a while, until the day of the next PET scanner, which showed that the disease recurs and requires a longer treatment with another dozen of chemotherapies and stem cell transplantation.
We continued to fight. Thanks to helpful people we were again able to collect another 110 000 BGN (56 000 EUR) and the transplantation was successfully done. Everything was according to plan. Yordan recovered, the general check-up showed that everything was ok with him. However, to our great regret, the next PET scan has again shown a cancer recurrence.
We made bright plans, we dreamed, we were more than happy... we achieved peace and harmony. You know, the usual things. I believed I was more than convinced that the disease is gone forever...
After the transplantation of stem cells and a year in remission, it appeared again, so we are begging for your kindness to help us win the next battle in this cold war!
Now Yordan has to start a new expensive treatment, which comprises more chemotherapy and immunotherapy worth 82,000 EUR.
The doctor who treats him recommends that the initial treatment must be followed by an allogeneic transplantаtion, costing 100,000 EUR.
