Primitive camping turns into a cat rescue

So my son and I like to go camping. We do it quite often and have a hidden spot we love to go to. This time when we arrived there was a cat there. It was quite skinny and obviously abandoned. I get to work setting up the tent while my son becomes friends with this cat I will most likely be taking home.

My son gets to work trying to catch some blue gill to feed the cat since we only brought enough food for dinner and breakfast.

He gets a couple bites but no luck so he starts feeding the cat the stale bread we have for the minnow trap. Meanwhile by now the cat has become mildly irritating to me and I am struggling to not trip over it while I gather wood.

We settle down to a nice hobo meal we tossed in the fire. Sadly we have to eat this in the tent because the cat is clawing at us to get to it. While we are in the tent the cat is climbing on top of it, It reminded me of the scene in Blair witch except instead of kids laughing it was a cat meowing. We finish up and decide to give the cat our leftovers ( like we had a choice). I finally get to sit down and do some fishing myself. The cat eats it's meal and disappears into the night. We get nothing that night and settle down to go to bed. A couple hours later I wake up to some noise and go outside to check. Now instead of 2 eyes staring at me I see 8 glowing eyes reflecting the light from my phone.

Needless to say I have a new momma cat and 3 kittens now living on my back porch. This is a photo of the kittens once we got home. It was to hard to get a decent pic of them in the woods.

The next morning we caught over 13 blue gill and a couple catfish.

Let's just say by the end of the day the momma cat was stuffed.

She's quite a happy cat now. There is no way this cat was not domesticated the way she craves human attention.

Hey everyone! Thank you again for all the support. Mamma cat has been seen by a vet and has begun taking worm medication. The kittens are still too young to get any of their shots but have an appointment Monday for their "8 week" shots. Mamma is lined up to get fixed the same day the
kittens will be seen. I will post an update this weekend with new pics to show how much these little things have grown.

I know it's not much. But I wanted to thank you for what you did. I'm a huge animal lover and have a cat I adopted and adore. Thank you for doing such an amazing thing. Also your son too. He's a reflection of you and your huge heart.

Thank you for taking care of the Momma and babies. I rescued a Momma and her 3 babies years ago-- though it took a month for her to trust me! When she did, she brought me her babies :). She became one of the most amazing joys in my life, and helped me more than I helped her I think. You are showing your son a true example of kindness and empathy. Thank you again!!!
