I just got a start on a new life, after years of struggle. I left my support system behind and made a big move to start a new job in Washington DC. My companion Wilbur came with me, as he has for 11 years.

It's been hard, especially with moving costs and getting a new house settled, but Wilbur and I were very happy. Then, a few days ago Wilbur began to act strangely. I wasn't sure what was wrong, and he seemed to recover but this afternoon I came home and his jaw had swollen and he was lethargic and unresponsive. I rushed him to a vet and he's going in for treatment tomorrow morning.

I don't like asking for money, but my back is against the wall. I had to pay two rents in September because of my move and the costs of moving have left me with no reserves.

If you have a few dollars to spare, perhaps you wouldn't mind helping me defray this unexpected vet visit. I love my furbaby very much as anyone who knows me knows. If anything happens to him I'd be heartbroken.
