Help Wade Mullins fight leukemia

On December 20, 2016, Wade was Christmas shopping when he became short of breath and complained of a "bad" headache. WADE IS 15 years old!!!!! Long story short, within approximately an hour and a half from the time we signed in at the ER at St. Mary's Medical Center, he was transported by ambulance to Cabell Huntington Hospital PICU where Dr. Finch, pediatric hematologist, and his team were waiting for him. Wade was in a blast crisis and at a high risk for a stroke due to tumor lysis syndrome as a result of acute leukemia. Lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspiration were later performed. Wade's final diagnosis was phenotyped as B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is in the very high risk category and his treatment will have to be more aggressive, whereas the cancer is not only in his peripheral blood, but also in his spinal column. He has been receiving intrathecal chemo (by lumbar puncture with chemo given directly into the spinal fluid) and chemo via port the same day. He's also on daily oral meds as part of his treatment plan. Wade will additionally undergo cranial radiation as his treatment progresses. He's remaining strong and positive.  He's had numerous transfusions and several days spent in bed from fatigue but he has remained polite and never lost his funny personality that we all love! Please know that all visitors, phone calls, texts, social media posts, FaceTimes, gifts, etc., have lifted his spirits at just the right times. I can't express how beneficial it has been for Wade to receive these acts of kindness from each and every one of you. (He celebrated Christmas and his 16th birthday in the PICU without complaint). Most importantly, the prayers that have been spoken on his behalf and on behalf of Wade are the most cherished gift of all. Please continue to pray. To say thank you seems so generic, but I'm at a loss for words as we are still trying to process all of this so suddenly. This precious family needs your help for travel expenses, room and board and so many unknown expenses. When you wake up one day and your world has been turned upside down, and unexpected and devastating news about your son has been thrown at you, your life will never be the same. Please help in anyway you can and most importantly, please keep praying.
