Help Volunteers Rebuild After Devasting Housefire

$10,786 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 155 people in 4 months
Created December 13, 2018
My name is 1st Lt. Keith Rodriguez of the Toms River First Aid Squad.

At approximately 1130 AM on 12/13/18 the house of Toms River Volunteer First Aid Captain Alyssa Golembeski, her sister Firefighter/EMT Ashley Hollingsworth,  mother EMT Christine Golembeski (along with 3 other family members), caught fire. Captain Golembeski was trapped in the basement of the house and rescued by TRPD, sustaining superficial burns to her back and soles of her feet. The fire unfortunately destroyed the entire home (see pictures), leaving this family of dedicated, volunteer first responders homeless two weeks before Christmas. While homeowners insurance should cover the cost of rebuilding the house, this campaign aims to offset some of the costs associated with such an event; such as providing clothing, toiletries, and other household items that were lost after such a devastating event. This campaign has been authorized by the family and any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to follow up with you all. Lately, I have been hearing rumors that people are saying that this GoFundMe campaign is nothing but a money grab for the first aid squad. I just wanted to come out and state definitively that this is NOT true.
Let me introduce you to two very special people. This is Barbara Golembeski-HerrNeckar and Cole HerrNeckar. Barbara is the Aunt of our captain and Cole is her cousin. Barbara is the owner of the house that was unfortunately lost. She was gracious enough to let the rest of the family who just happen to be on the squad live with her. If it was not for her, the other members of the family would not have had a place to live. All the money that is raised in this campaign is going directly to her so that the family as a WHOLE can begin to recover. Yes, there is homeowners insurance, but it does not cover everything, such as food, clothing, etc. Any one who has stated that squad 39 has capitalized off of this tragedy is mean spirited and I for one am not happy to hear this rumor go about. Every cent that has been donated here is going directed to Barbara and every donation that has been received in person, whether it be goods or monies, has gone directly to her as well.

Less than a day and our goal has been reached! The family appreciates all the love and support they have been receiving since the incident yesterday. It is so wonderful to see a community pulling together to help someone who has helped so many others! I am going to continue to keep the campaign open in an effort to potentially offset the costs associated with this incident further and would love to see everyone share this as much as they can. We also have two fundraisers in the works currently, and plan to release more info about them as soon as we solidify dates and times.
Thank you all again for showing what community is about and may you all have a very wonderful and happy holiday!
