Help us with Isa´s Brain Surgery

On October 27, I received the worst possible news, my daughter Isabella had a brain tumor. That very day I was able to get an appointment with Guatemala’s best neurosurgeon, he immediately told me that he had to operate on my 17-year-old girl. My world collapsed, instead of dealing with parties or what most young girls are dealing with at her age, my daughter was possibly facing cancer.
Isabella was operated on November 28th. During the operation, the doctor told us that the tumor was bigger than he originally thought and that he was only going to be able to extract 40%. She was going to need another surgery. Despite the possible complications of the operation in which she could lose her speech or the ability to recognize people, Isabella recuperated spectacularly. That is when I knew God had been with her all the time. Praying to God doesn’t mean that bad things won’t happen to you, it means that He will be by your side when they do.
God has been helping us all the way. He was there when Isabella could leave the hospital only 5 days after the surgery and when the pathology confirmed that the tumor was ASTROCYTOMA stage 2, which is operable.
Our doctor recommended that Isabella’s second surgery should be done in the USA, where most hospitals have the equipment necessary to extract the whole tumor. With the help of my sister who lives in North Carolina, Dr. Mark Van Poppel agreed to take my daughter's case and do the surgery on February 3rd. The insurance company will not cover this surgery, (it did however, cover the Guatemalan surgery), but my family and I will do whatever it takes to give her the best possible care. We are estimating that the surgery will cost over USD $50,000.00, so we are asking for your help. We are an average family who has been blessed with work and food on our table, but the operation’s cost is way over our budget. There are no donations considered too small, and we will be eternally grateful for anything you can do to help. Please pray for Isabella and may God you.

El 27 de octubre recibí la peor noticia posible, mi hija Isabella tenía un tumor cerebral. Ese mismo día pude concertar una cita con el mejor neurocirujano de Guatemala, quien inmediatamente me dijo que tenía que operar a mi niña de 17 años. Mi mundo se derrumbó, en lugar de tratar con las fiestas o lo que la mayoría de las chicas jóvenes están lidiando a su edad, mi hija posiblemente se estaba enfrentando al cáncer.
Isabella fue operado el 28 de noviembre. Durante la operación, el médico nos dijo que el tumor era más grande de lo que pensaba y que sólo iba a ser capaz de extraer el 40%. Iba a necesitar otra cirugía. A pesar de las posibles complicaciones de la operación en la que podría perder el habla o la capacidad de reconocer a las personas, Isabella se recuperó espectacularmente. Fue entonces cuando supe que Dios había estado con ella todo el tiempo. Orar a Dios no significa que las cosas malas no te sucedan, significa que Él estará a tu lado cuando te pasen.
Dios nos ha estado ayudando todo el camino. Estuvo allí cuando Isabella pudo salir del hospital sólo 5 días después de la cirugía y cuando la patología confirmó que el tumor es un ASTROCITOMA etapa 2, que es operable.

Con la ayuda de mi hermana que vive en Carolina del Norte, el Dr. Mark Van Poppel aceptó llevar el caso de mi hija y la cirugía está programada para el 3 de febrero. La compañía de seguros no cubrirá esta cirugía (sin embargo, si cubrió la operación en Guatemala), pero mi familia y yo haremos lo que sea necesario para brindarle el mejor cuidado posible. Estamos estimando que la cirugía costará más de USD50,000.00 por lo que estamos pidiendo su ayuda. Somos una familia promedio que ha sido bendecida con trabajo y comida en nuestra mesa, pero el costo de la operación está muy por encima de lo que podemos pagar.
