Help us to send Taciser to Japan

Donation protected
Taciser Sevinc is a kendo instructor in Yushinkan Iaido & Kendo dojo in Utrecht.

Kendo (The way of the sword) is a Japanese martial art based on sword techniques of samurai. “The concept of kendo is to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of katana (sword).” (AJKF) The duty of Taciser is to teach, not only sword techniques but also respect, etiquette, good manners, and how to cultivate a strong spirit in order to become a better person. She has been practising kendo since 2010 and is currently holding a 3rd Dan grade.

The Yushinkan iaido dojo is over 20 year old; however, kendo is being practised recently. Started in 2016, our enthusiastic kendo group has grown a lot, thanks to Taciser’s efforts. As a young kendo dojo we have a long way to go. For this purpose, Taciser is willing to improve her technique as well as her teaching skills and hand down the virtues of kendo to the next generations of Yushinkan and Utrecht.

Every year in July, All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) holds a seminar for kendo leaders all around the world. The 46th Foreign Kendo Leaders’ Summer Seminar will take place in Gedatsu-kai Training Center in Kitamoto, Japan from 19th to 26th of July. During this seminar a maximum of 50 foreign kendo leaders will train under direct guidance of top-level Japanese teachers and learn about history of kendo, fundamental practice, drilling in techniques, refereeing and coaching of students.

Taciser has been recommended by the president of the Netherlands Kendo Federation (NKR) to represent The Netherlands at this special seminar and has accepted as participant by the All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF). Therefore she will travel to Japan this July. The seminar fee, accommodation, meals and part of domestic transportation in Japan will be covered by the AJKF. However, the participants are responsible to bear the costs of their own round-trip ticket to Japan. Prices of such an airplane tickets to Japan during the respective period are expected to be around €1000,-. We are willing to help our kendo teacher to cover this expense.

The Yushinkan foundation, which is running the Yushinkan Iaido & Kendo dojo, is able to make an advancement. However, we are a non-profit organisation, spending most of our income on facilitating trainings. Therefore, this is a heavy financial burden. That is why we are turning towards you and are asking if you are willing to aid in covering her travel expenses to Japan. This will allow Taciser to increase her knowledge and skills in order to help current and future students of the Yushinkan practising kendo to not only improve their martial art skills, but also become better persons. Any contribution would be more than appreciated.
