Help us to help Kevin walk again

The things we all take for granted "walking"
Well our dearest friends Kiven & Michele never thought the reality of Kevin might not being able to walk again would ever happen.
Almost 4 months ago Kevin had scoliosis spine fusion surgery in the hope for a better quality of life as his back caused him so much pain and discomfort. I remember his wife Michele saying "i can't wait to be able to have nice long walks along the beach together after this surgery"
Kevin was kept in an unexpected coma for 4 days while his wife and children sent him messages begging him to wake up. On day 5 he woke up and was moved from ICU into the main ward. The following day he was up walking assisted by a walking frame and getting fantastic results with his recovery everyday with sitting up and walking assisted short distances. Well, that was until day 10 when kevin needed to go to the bathroom. Two nurses came to assist him up sitting on the edge of the bed but then they both left him sitting there and left the room closing the door behind them with no buzzer in reach. Kevin yelled out for a good 10 min with no assistance. He knew he had walked with the frame earlier so he attempted to do so again as he was worried of falling off the bed. (Heavily dosed up on pain medication) As he stood up his leg gave way sending him to the ground instantly.
This would result in 3 more emergency surgeries, 15 bags of blood transfusions, a nasty bug in his spine and after everything he has been through already he is now left paralysed with a long costly recovery all due to some nurses negligence.
He is now in the process of being discharged to go back home but because he is a New Zealander and not an Australian citizen, the costs of equipment, specialised bed, wheelchair, specialised seat for their car and rehabilitation appointments twice weekly is not covered or contributed to. Therefor they need to find around $35'000 for equipment and $900 each and every week for 6-12 months for his rehabilitation. This is all on top of every day living expenses. Kevin of course in his current state is unable to work and support his family just to make matters worse.
I am hoping by putting his story out their to the wider community that we can help raise these funds to take just a little bit of pressure of these beautiful people that are going through a really tough time. Every donation helps so much weather it's large or small so please help me to help them.
Them and myself would be so grateful for any help so please share share share our post with your friends and family. We never know when we might be in a similar situation in this life.
