Help us get Tristan to Duke!

5 year old Tristan has a rare genetic disease, Pompe, where his body can't break down sugar. Tristan was a bit of a mystery when born and his foster parents brought him home from the hospital on hospice. He wasn't expected to live past his first birthday.
Everyone fell in love with Tristan and became the best advocates they could be for him. He was diagnosed and began recieving treatment and he was adopted into his forever family.
Pompe disease is so rare that Tristan's doctors, here in Oregon, only treat 2 other patients and rely on the expertise of a team at Duke Children's Hospital to share their knowledge in treating this lifelong disease. Tristan, and his parents, have the opportunity to go meet the team at Duke this summer. This will be a very big journey for Tristan. He will travel across the country to meet the experts in Pompe disease and will be seen in their clinics.
His parents will also get to attend a patient/family conference where they will learn valuable information on Pompe disease which they can bring back to Tristan's doctors here in Oregon. This is Tristan's big opportunity to meet the leaders in treating Pompe disease.
Tristan's family has been advocating for  a higher dose of his life sustaining enzyme replacement therapy and need these clinic appointments to make this happen.
