Help us Save Ex-Racehorses lives

What are the funds for:

**UPDATE**
For us to continue our important work, not only with horses in need but also our human clients. We need your support! The coronavirus pandemic has heavily impacted our business, as it has everywhere. As such our costs to feed and maintain the horses is far exceeding our ability to earn enough to stay afloat. We understand this is a short term problem and ask if anyone in a position to help, please consider making a donation to ensure we are still here on the other side of this. Thank you!!

I have made it my passion to support and defend the welfare of horses. We are asking for donations to further support the re-education of retired racehorses as well as troubled and uneducated horses of all breeds and disciplines, so they can be trained, recieve detailed veteranary care and placed in loving homes, who would otherwise be left neglected or sent to the slaughterhouses.

The re-education will address their psychological, health and behavioural issues that resulted from the racing industry. Ex-race horses have amazing potential to be incredible horses for riders of all levels.

The funds will go towards the purchase, care, training and feed for these amazing animals and will go towards relocating of our facilities, due to the rezoning of our land which will force sell us out in a couple of years.

Without these funds, the future of our horse rescue, equestrian and therapy centre would be at risk and would put an end to the amazing work myself and my team are doing to save horses lives and give them a bright future.

Our Story:
I have been running Sandeli Park Equestrian Centre for the past 21 years. I started this horse riding centre with the purpose of providing quality horses and instruction to riders of all ages and abilities, helping them achieve their goals and making horse riding affordable to anyone who wants to learn.

I have been blessed meeting and working with so many amazing and talented people and horses throughout my career. I would love to share my knowledge and experience and give back to my community who have supported me throughout my years in the equestrian industry.

Australia has a large equestrian and racing industry that brings in considerable wealth within the racing and gambling industry. Unfortunately, the aftercare of racehorses does not mimic the care given while in their profitable racing career. Often due to no fault of their own, off the track thoroughbreds are in high supply with little demand, leaving them often neglected, unwanted or sent to slaughterhouses.

Racing programs are developed to be intense and strenuous to produce high-quality racehorses, because of this, the horses often develop psychological and behavioural issues such as panic disorders, poor socialisation, wood chewing, wind sucking, weaving, bucking, and health issues.

I have come across an increasing amount of horses destined towards an unhappy, stressful or unloved future because they have not been given the right education, attention or patience to allow them to grow into the horses they have the potential to be.

Since giving birth to my children I have looked at more ways that I can give back to the community, so I have decided to expand my capacity to rescue off the track thoroughbred racehorses and troubled horses of any breed and discipline and re-educate and care for them giving them the love they deserve so that they can be re-homed to a loving family.

This has since become my passion and I believe I can make a difference to horses that people have lost hope in. With care, patience and acceptance, I want to re-train these horses so that they can be the perfect companion to riders of all levels of experiences. I plan to place these horses in approved homes only and will provide assistance and advice to the rider after the horse has left my care.

Unfortunately, the facility I have doesn’t suit the requirements to successfully implement this rescue plan. I have also learnt that my property will become rezoned into urban status within the next couple of years and I will need to relocate my facility and horses to another property. This has prompted me to appeal to the wider community to support and donate to our cause to support the training of the ex-racehorses I am currently re-educating and to help  expand facilities to allow us to rescue more horses in the future.
